  1. Take a look at this: http://www.spadepot.com/spacyclopedia/winter.htm
  2. Mine climbed and lowered for a long time. I close the air intakes when i'm not in it to decrease aeration. I don't add Alkalinity booster either. My water has more than enough.
  3. This kit is one of the recommended ones on this site: http://www.taylortechnologies.com/products...&KitID=2230 It's the K-2006 for Chlorine. I use it myself. Works great!
  4. Find a country that you can buy stuff from that doesn't limit their spas to 104. Buy a new controller. This is my half baked idea. Check with people more knowledgeable than me.
  5. Could be, call around. Lowes and whatnot. Someone else might stock it.
  6. Breathing? What is it alive? LOL! I'm sure you don't need much air flow in the winter.
  7. If you are handy you might be able to troubleshoot. Piece by piece on here?
  8. Maybe your tub is green : ) Can you see it in a water sample?
  9. That's a freaking good idea! Insulation traps air. That's it's job. I bet peanuts in bags would work really good.
  10. It's just that when your younger you have so much alchohol in your veins you don't care! LOL! Better circulation. I'm going to the doc this mos about something like that.. Just bundle up and be thankful you don't do a full 8 hour day in weather like that, like I do right now.
  11. I just thought of this idea.. You could call some insulating companies and find out how much they would charge to show up with their truck and blow some more foam into your tub. I might check on that next summer myself even though I'm happy with my power bill. My tub has minimal insulation also(Viking) added some foil stuff to it. The inside has a light coat of blown foam but could use more. Also I'm not so sure your bill really went up that much? You really need to compare KW with someone who has a tub with about the same gallons ands sets it the same. If you use gas heat, gas dryer, gas range, gas water heater and your power bill doubles I could easily see that. And it sounds like your dealer is giving you excellent service!
  12. The breaker is doing it's job. For some reason your tub is drawing to much amperage if the breaker and wire is sized correctly. Don't know much about trouble shooting a spa.
  13. A 120V, 20A supply will not be sufficient for a cold weather tub. Perhaps one in warm climates.
  14. You mean the 30 amp fuse on the circuit board is blowing? That is a vendor problem and will have to be addressed by the manufacturer.
  15. Chlorine dissapates fast. mine will go from 2 ppm to .5 or so in a day. Just part of the fun!
  16. How about putting some UV lamps in around your tub? Wonder if that would lower the CC's?
  17. You have to understand that #8 is not just #8.. What he has is #8 NM-B. You have to rate the amperage off the 60 degree column in Table 310.16. It is only good for 40 amps. Let say you have #8 THHN in conduit with less than 3 current carrying conductors. It's good for 55 amps. Of course the NFPA grossly oversizes the current carrying conductors for our safety but I always install to National Electric Code when it comes to safety.
  18. Course if your hot tub only required 40 amps like mine did you could use that #8. Good luck and give that EC a call so he can come get you hooked up. I'd just junk everything except maybe the breaker in the panel. Chad
  19. No problem. I like to share! : ) Sharpens my skills to think about things that aren't straight forward.
  20. Sent and sent. Feel free to repost them if you can!
  21. And definetly check a few other contractors. You might not get a bid on this but a reputable contractor is worth it. On this job I personally wouldn't show up and bid it. I would time and material it over the phone with a rough guestimate.
  22. Read my response again hot tub brother! I'm a real electrician giving you real advice. If the wire is #6 NM is it good for 55 amps of hot tub load. Period. If it is #8 it is good for 40amps. I would only get it inspected if the local inspectors do not enforce the copper to the panel rule or the equipotential grounding, see Arcticle 680 NEC or they have an exception for them.
  23. Pics taken but have not pic hosting so put up emails and will send.
  24. Alrighty.. since I'm done doing chores for the day and I've got a beer in hand. I'll go get em now! Can I upload pics with the forum? I don't have a pic hosting site. I can email them though!
