  1. It wasn't caffeine but more like the amount of alcohol intake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I've seen alot of threads about costco and non premium tubs refered to as junk or not up to par, well I for for one wasn't willing to shell out $10,000.00, $7500.00 or even $5000.00 dollars on a contained area of heated water with magic jets, so I began looking at dealerships for used one but not finding any to my likings in the area of $1500.00 to $3500.00. But what I did happen to stumble across was an outdated 9 year old blue ridge spa made by jacuuzzi it measures 81x91 with 2 3.65 hp single speed motors and a smaller I beleive heater/circulation pump, it has a manual dial for temp. setting with a digital readout , it has a lounger and 4 other seats with a step in feature or what now is called a cool off seat plain old light with colored blue lens. When I brought it home 10 days ago we cleaned it some what, this included the insides and underneath had to do some work to the older cedar skirting, like adding screws from the back side for better bracing and adding staples to some of the smaller panels to help reduce warping and such, then started to fill it up only to find one of the manifolds was cracked and leaking order the parts and $45.00 later it held water just fine. Finally got the wiring ran tonight and guess what everything seems to be working the pumps pumped and the light turned on and the heater is heating, my 10 year old son and I jumped in after letting run for about an hour the temp was reading a mere 84 degrees about 2 hours later the temp. showed at 94 and the outside temp is 58 degrees tonight we later discovered a couple more leaks at the top of 2 of the valve gates at the handles only when pumps our running will get them fixed pronto. Anyway my total purchase for this tub was $500.00 from a previos owner in which had moved and took this hot tub with them but had stored this tub in an un-heated garage for the past 2 years but he included the box with some wiring, sealtight, gfic breaker, steps a newer top so far my total expense is approx. $600.00 plus a few more simple leakes to fix and I just came in about an hour ago from a 89-90 degree soak to see hot it felt, I'm in heaven right now and can't wait for tommorrow evening.
  3. Makes you wonder why such large corporation like mattel and fisher price bought their products from china do you think they didn't know what they were buying or was it just a cost effective approach and better returns for investors don't let me even start with the politics behind this our government started all of this and america better wake up fast, sorry for getting off the topic
  4. Bond, Ive been debating these same issues for some time and I'm sure quality over quantity has some say so here but in the end I ended up buying a used hot tub this past week it's about 8 years old it measures 81x91 its a low budget tub eveything on it is considered ancient on this forum but to replace everything like all three motors, heater and contoller I'm looking around a $1000.00 retail but I haven't even wired it up yet so who knows maybe it all will still work time will tell hopefully by this weekend if the rain ever stops here. I've had to do some work to the skirting and have ordered parts to replace one of the manifolds but so far my total investment has been $500.00 and since I work maintenance for a major corporation and rebuild pumps on a daily basis along with many more complexsive equipment I think I will do just fine with this tub remember it is just a contained area with heated water no rocket science here I'll report back hopefully with in the week to let you know if I got a bargain or just a water ornament but the end results will be a decent tub at a bargain price since I can fix almost anything with time permitting.

  10. I think personally I'm just about done reading all these post in this and all hot tub forums since none of them have done me any justice in finding a decent hot tub at a reasonble price (remember this is just a tub full of heated water) nothing new and certainly not rocket science my cheap a-- no name bath tub with a heater and jets have served us well for the past 6 years With not one single problem coporate america wake-up no longer we the consumers will tolerate the greed so count me out for now I will do my own realistic comparision but I wil not be willing to spend $10,000.00 or even $7000.00 dollars for a tub of hot water for now I'm still decideiding what to get more than likely a used one or dealer thats willing to work w/ us that's all for now
  11. Welll I personally just missed out on a deal from a local owner selling a used hot tub it was a great lakes 4 person tub that normally goes for well over $3000 .00 for a mere $1200.00 would of of been a great first choice for us we will keep ours eyes open to save some cash if nothing tshows up soon cosco tubs look to be a good value IMHO will keep researching for now
  12. Valid point. I'm not exactly sure, but I think the dealer had Arctic for 4 or so years and the reason they dropped Arctic is because and this is a quote from the dealer: We have spent $200k over the past 2 years in service related costs that has not been supported/reimbursed by Arctic and we are not going to accept it any longer. The dealer said that if the service guy comes out to fix my light, of which he already has the part, that will be the last bill they pay related to Arctic; the warranty is between Arctic and I, not them. Tom - If this is not right - please help. This is hard to believe that a dealer has done over $200k over the past 2 years w/ no reimbursment for one what does this say about quality or is this dealer just totally not telling the truth or was he just over charging and arctic said enough is enough there couldn't possibly be a profit with this dealership IMHO
  13. Ive seen a Jacuzzi at sams. It looked cheap. John So now jacuzzi is cheap
  14. I would say a 5 inch pad with some type of re-inforcement would be the way to go like with wire if there usining re-bar 4 inch would do the trick but dont use what they call wire-mesh it's sorta like synthetic type of re-inforcement but most contractors don't prefer it
  15. Hows your bullfrog doing to date ?????
