So my Jacuzzi J-480 arrived yesterday, with 3 young lads. All looked good according to the crew (we live in a suburb and only have 50" between houses, clearance needed was 40") until they had it loaded and could not negotiate a slight turn at the gate. The angle of attack and the already tight space were too much. They are redelivering the tub on Saturday and I am going to try to have them try again but with a couple of mi Bigger buddies here to try to rem ove the tub from the trolley at the end just to clear the gate, then place it. If that is not successful I have contacted a crane/boom company that is prepared to do it on Sunday.

My questions:

1- Any tips on how to do this manually with a bunch of guys? Keep in mind the tub is 92" x 92" x 40" and 950lbs dry weight.

2- If I in fact do have to crane it in any tips or suggestions?

Thanks again. I am learning ALOT just browsing the other postings. BTW, my nick is MunnyGuy because I am in Finance... thinking to changing it to SPENDING LOTSA MUNNYGUY! lol

If you get a boom/crane brought in, don't do on the hotest day of the year. Those trucks left 2" deprresions on my new driveway. (they assured me it wouldn't....yea right.)

OK...if the tub will go through but it's the cart that's screwing you up, 4 burly guys and some nylon slings with 2 foot long pieces of pipe or 2x4's for handles and you can lift and carry. Use the straps to go under the tub and up the side and use the pipe in the eye of the strap as a 2 sided handle. Sizing the straps for the height of the guys is the most important part. 950 divided by 4 is 237 lbs each, with your legs, not easy but doable 6 guys would be better, 3 staps. Other wise a boom truck with a spreader beam and straps would also be easy but a bit more costly than a case of beer for your burly friends.

Take pictures.

I use a crane now and then, but we manage to get 'em in most of the time without. A crane in my area is about $300 - and sometimes that will just get the spa past the gate or other 'choke point' and then we dolly it by hand the rest of the way.

If you can put down plywood or similar to make the working surface as flat and smooth as you can, and then use multiple furniture dollies at each end of the tub - that seems to be the best way to negotiate tight corners.

Thanks for the tips/comments. They are gonna deliver it today. I got moving straps from a client of mine that owns a local moving company. He stated that if my guys cannot do it.. he will gather a crew for a hell of alot cheaper than the $550- the crane is gonna cost me. As the hours tick by before the Sens game my liklihood of getting a crew today diminishes! As I am in Ottawa and they are playing at home tonight!!!

Go Sens Go!!!

It's not the operator's fault,

It's not the Spa's fault,

It's not the dealer's fault -

It's the asphalt.
