New To Taylor K-2006, Need Help

When doing the Cyanuric Acid test I put 7ml of pool water in the provided container. Then I add another 7 of r-0013, really? I will hardly get 10 test out of the two bottles they gave me?

Then I added the solution to the small test comparator and the dot goes black to light gray. It never diapers?

FYI, my PH was 7.6 and my Chlorine was ( 4.0 ). Should I lower my production level to get the chlorine down, seems a bit high? Currently I'm running 82% production in FL. Last time I added shock was over 2 weeks ago.

If the black dot does not disappear as shown in this link, then your CYA is less than 30 ppm (if using a Taylor K-2006 test; with some other Taylor tests or the TFTestkits TF-100 test, it's less than 20 ppm -- just look at the mark at the top of the tube). With such a low CYA level, you are losing more chlorine to sunlight than necessary.

You don't need to test your CYA very often since it only drops with dilution of the water. This CYA test is economical (and tests down to 20 ppm) and you can get refills for this test or your K-2006 CYA test here economically as well.

I have 3 lbs of 100% CYA available. I'm not sure how far this stuff goes but will start adding some immediately. There is also a huge controversy over how to add. I read using a sock and not dump it in directly. Also not to use the skimmer as it take too long to resolve.

What is the recommendation on when to test for CYA, once a season? Or once before swimming season? Being new to a pool, I didnt know about CYA, till waterbear mentioned it. I'm of the opinion its been out of wack since I bought my home ( almost 1 year ) and led to destroying my cell.

The only question not answered was the how to add CYA. I dont see the answer in the videos either. for now I'll just use a bucket of water. until its all dissolved.
