I have a salt water pool and have some staining that some have said is caused by high iron in the water. I started looking around and found that my pool cleaner, which I leave in the pool continuously, has rust on all of the bands holding the hose together at the joints. It is a Vio Turbo, and I was wondering if 1) can the stains in the pool be caused by these rusting bands. 2) Is there some other cleaner that is recomended for salt water pools. Any help would be very helpfull.

Hi sunjunky,

I just want to give you some advice about your problem.

The stains in the pool are not caused by the rusting bands of your Vio Turbo pool cleaner. It is because the salt in the water can cause rusting, especially in pools that are converted from typical water to salt. It is the salt from the water that causes all the rust stains to your swimming pool even to your pool cleaner.

I recommend that you seal your pool steps to prevent rusting. you can use protective and restorative products to seal off the steps so that this doesn't happen year after year. This salt water pool care tip is best done at the end of the swimming season, when you can partially drain your pool in order to apply the sealant. ^_^
