Odd Size Skimmer Faceplate

My inground vinyl liner pool (as I've posted previously) is special, as in there are no longer any replacement parts available! The new problem I have run into is replacing the faceplate for the skimmer. The opening to our skimmer is rather odd shaped, it's slimmer than the standard faceplate. As sort of a band aid approach I guess, the previous home owners took a standard faceplate, and cut the top off to make it fit. It looks rather silly, and obvious. Does anyone know where I can get a faceplate replacement that isn't standard? I've looked, but can only find faceplates that would fit a normal pool, and there is nothing normal about our pool, as we are quickly finding out.

Post a pic of the skimmer if you could. Also the lid covering from the deck is it original or replacement. If its original look on the under side for a manufacture name or serial #.
