How often would your shear pin break? It is not easy to repair the automatic covers. Sometimes you can find a local shop that can repair the covers. Look under Sail makers, tarps, tents, covers etc. for someone who works on large fabric structures. I have had a few covers repaired with OK results. The old rope and webbing needs to be removed and the new rope and webbing have to be sewn in. The rope needs to be the same on both sides for the cover to track straight. Quote

I'll put in a call to the local saf t dealer but find him not very good,,,I'll pay extra for quality, but don't feel a premium price for average work is fair. The cover is in good shape with one small tear from the rope to the side...about 4 inches. One alternative(I'm in pa ) is to install an anchor cover(25 by 50)....and use the automatic in the summer. Probably the biggest concern I have is the dealer network. Quote
quantumchromodynamics Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 At ten years, I think that it would be best to replace the cover. The vinyl, webbing and ropes all get brittle and weak. I don't think that it would make much sense to spend money for an expensive anchor cover and also fix the automatic cover. Is this a Cover Pools cover? Quote
