Death Of A Pool Builder Giant

Recommended Posts

I have just learned that Bill Malins, Sr. the owner of Malins Custom Pools passed away July 1, 2007.

I find it appalling that neither Curtis Malins, who has now taken over the company, nor Bill's widow, felt it proper to post an obituary so the community would know of his passing.

Bill Malins was an outstanding member of the community in Chino, CA. There are many of us who worked with Bill on various boards, and projects. Collectively we read The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, The San Bernardino Sun, and The San Gabrial Tribune and in NOT ONE OF THOSE NEWSPAPERS was anything printed about Bill.

Does this strike any of you as odd? Why wouldn't there be an obituary for a man who helped inspire many people, and who contributed much to his community. Why let him go "quietly into the night"? Why, I ask, why? I guess only Curt and his widow can answer that, and I guess they have their reasons.

I hope you will all join me in saluting Bill Malins, Sr. with a moment of silence after you read this notice.

The Inland Empire lost an icon in the pool building business. He was an honorable man, ran a clean operation, and was always honest with his customers. I just hope Curtis Malins does not handle Malins Custom Pool Construction the same deplorable way he handled his own pool company Curtis Pools.

I have a co worker having a pool done by Malin. I told him about Curtis what I read here and on the state lic page. He asked the sales person. She told him that Curtis had money probelm, lots of $ lost for owners wanting pools. No jail time. She, per my co worker, said Curtis is an electrician with Malin, not an owner.
