Venams
Just re-filled my spa and water temp is at 55 degrees. Do I have to wait until water temp is around 98 or so degrees until I can start adding Muriatic Acid to lower the TA or can I just start right away? Spanky
Balance the water. Temperature is not a factor.
Venams
Thanks Spanky! One more question. I have my PH and TA stable. What's the best way to add my boric acid? Dump directly in tub with jets/air on or dissolve first in a bucket and then add to spa?
chem geek
If it's boric acid, you can add it directly to the spa. It's a weak acid that will only slightly lower the pH -- if you add it all at once (with circulation) it will drop the pH from around 7.5 to 7.
Spanky
If you're using boric acid then yes, as Chem Geek said you can slowly add while the water is circulating. If you're using borax then NO do not add directly to the tub. You have to mix the borax in a bucket of water first then balance the pH with acid. Once everything is mixed then you add the bucket to the spa.
