Decent Method Of Water Testing

Recommended Posts

Hi All, this is my first post here, so please tolerate some questions for a while :-)

I bought an aquacheck pool tester because I am sick of getting different results from pool shops testing my water, however I still go to said shops to get a check occasionally, and if I have doubts about my home tester. Today, my tester errored so I had the water tested at a couple of shops (Adelaide western 'burbs).

I took two samples from the same place at the same time and got the following two results

Place 1: TA 130, pH 7.0 and Total Cl 9

Place 2: TA 72, pH 7.6 and Total Cl 5.5

When I got home I tried my aquacheck and got TA 257, pH 8.5 and Cl 11

As you can see, there is a fair bit of difference, and I need to know who or what is telling the truth, or is it somewhere in between all these three?

Can the good folks out there offer me some advice, and what do others use to test water?

Thanks, Paul

Unfortunately, you may have trouble getting the proper test kit that would be accurate, namely the Taylor K-2006. PoolVacParts sells the K-2006 and can ship it to Australia. The K-2006-C with all 60 ml reagents is $105 plus $55 shipping (AU $168 total).
