heavyg603
Hi All, So we recently bought a house with a 2002+ Tiger River spa. I was having an issue getting it started (just flashing the power light) and found a suggestion on a blog that suggested the heater (Watkins 6kw, the new style) might be the issue. If I disconnect the power and wait 5 to 10 minutes I can get the pumps and blower to turn on for about 10 seconds then it just shuts down again to the flashing power button. Going into the IQ2020 box If I pull the wire coming from the body of the heater, recycle the power, I can get the tub to run normally, as soon as I reconnect the heater it shuts down again. Before I go and replace the heater is there anything else I should be checking ? Thanks!
Dan.The.Spa.Man
It's most likely the small circulation pump. If it is not running the heater gets hot and causes the hi limit sensor to kill power to the heater, then the power light flashes. If you disconnect the heater, it doesn't get hot, so the hi limit/power light will not flash.
heavyg603
So I'm leaving the hi low sensor connected and just unplugging the one on the far right (the largest connector). If I reset the power with this disconnected everything runs (as far as I can tell). Any way to check the recirc pump?
Dan.The.Spa.Man
When the jets are off you should get flow from that bottom drain/return. If you look at the surface there should be a slight ripple of water directly above that drain. You can also put your hand on that pump to see if it is vibrating. If its not vibrating and just gets hot then it is bad.
heavyg603
Ok, can feel the circ pump running, but definitely no flow from the drain. I reconnected the heater, now its not even getting hot. Someone else was mentioning if it was in "summer mode" the screen does show a plus sign next to that, but I cant seem to clear that and there is no lock. Wondering if I'm looking at multiple part failures?
