path
I am in need of a spa cover lifter - to extend the life of the spa cover and my back. I have a 2 seater 'triangular shaped' Marquis RENDEZVOUS Spa. Due to its triangular shape a normal spa cover lifter is not an option. I came across a "cover shelf" which is basically two tubular arms that fold out and form a shelf (see url below). This looks like it is the answer to my problem. But to install the arm brackets you need to sink 16 1" screws into the hottub. My concern is : Can I safely sink 1" screws into my tub - without unknowingly hitting something (pipe, etc)? http://www.hot-tub-spa-covers.com/coverlifts/cover-shelf.htm thanks
Spa_Guru
Everything on a Rendezvous is more than 1" deep in the foam, I would be more concerned with the viability of the cabinet to hold the weight -- if it is cedar, you may wish to use a piece of 1/4" plywood on the back side of the cedar to prevent splitting and cabinet failure.
