mjgold
Hi everyone, I am in Palo Alto, California (Silicon Valley) and looking to buy a high-end hot tub. The one I most like so far is the Sundance Altamar. I would love opinions on two questions: 1. What do people think of the Altamar? 2. What would be a good price for one in this area? Any dealers that are especially good? Thanks! Mark
Spa_Guru
Always check the BBB website for your dealer's rating, the overview there will also tell you how long they have been in business. Don't buy from a dealer that does not have in house service, dealing with 3rd party contractors for that is going to be a PITA most of the time. With any tub, and I would say especially one with a lounge seat like the Altamar, wet test it to be certain it works with your height and build. Sitting in a tub dry to check it out is equivelant to test driving a new car by sitting in the seat and making vroom vroom noises to yourself. The Sundance overall is a pretty well built tub, and it's direct competitors in size, quality and style would be; The jacuzzi J465 http://www.jacuzzihottubs.com/j-400/j-465.html The Marquis Reward http://www.marquisspas.com/spa_Reward.asp The Hot Springs Aria http://www.hotspring.com/shop-hot-tub-models/aria The Demension One Californian http://www.d1spas.com/hottubs/californian/spas-reflections-californian.html All four websites have dealer locators. As a repairman, my preferance is the Marquis, due to both construction methods and largely low cost non-proprietary parts, but opinions vary. Buy what makes your wife happy.
