Above Ground Pool Below Grade?

Recommended Posts

I have been on this site awhile and only used the Spa portion as we currently have a hot tub.

Wife and I went and looked at another house the other day and it has an above ground steel wall round pool in the ground and back filled. There is a narrow deck all the way around and the walls do come above the ground and the deck so no worries of ground water entering the pool. The pump has a manufactured date of November 2004. The pump and filter are place up by the house and plumbed underground much like an inground pool would be.

My questions are....

1. Is this acceptable and a good idea?

2. What would be the expected life of this pool in that situation? (and is it longer or shorter than normal?)

3. Any other feedback about this set-up and what to look/watch for.

Thanks in Advance,

Don
