PreZzO88
Hello forum, I would like to know the quantity of 1/2" piping needed to match 1 1/2" pipe. I currently have a 1 1/2" pipe going on my roof and a splitter that splits the 1 1/2" to quantity-3 1/2" pipes. I believe I am getting major back pressure because the pressure gauge rises from 20 PSI to over 40 PSI. Some friend has told me to use cross-sectional area of the pipes and see how many 1/2" pipes i need to match 1 1/2". According to my calculations, i would need 9 pipes and not 3. Is this correct? Can anyone give me a hand on how we can match this? Thanks guys!

Mark
For volume it is around 7 but if you want equal head loss, you need closer to 12.
