Repair Old Grandee Or Purchase New?

Looking for some advice. I have a 2000 HS Grandee which has developed 3 leaks in one year at a cost of about $1,000 each. Heater, ozonator, and cover have been replaced about 3 years ago. Has the tub reached its life expectancy and should we be considering purchasing a new one rather than keep repairing this one? My local dealer has agreed to repair and resell the tub if I choose to do so and split the profit with me. What is the best price on a 2011 Grandee with the ACE system?

what price were you quoted? it is kind of tough to give you the perfect number, not all dealers have the same margin obviously the high volume dealers can keep prices little lower because they do much more units per year. $10,500 - $13,000 is a good range, I know that doesn't exactly narrow it down for you, but there are plenty of factors besides dealer volume as well, for instance what is included in the price? cover lifter, chemicals, delivery/removal of your old spa, spa steps, stone surround option, mp3 player, etc. etc. some dealers will start extremely low then add on things as needed or some will package everything together as a "turn key" price and make deductions as necessary.

Not sure of an exact price yet. Going to the store to talk today. Just looking for a tub and salt system. Also, do you think it's worth it to keep my current tub? What is the life expectancy of the Grandee? With my current tub, two of the leaks were in the foam and one was in the motor compartment.

with it leaking your options are pretty limited, it sounds like the best option is the one you already mentioned where the dealer takes it away when he brings out the new one, fixes it up a bit and then resells it. Of course with all of his costs involved you probably won't come out with much, but hey what can you really expect out of a almost 11 year old used spa. I suppose if your feeling handy you could attempt to fix the leaks yourself and resell it to a private party, but then again its still an 11 year old tub and it won't bring much (in other words prob. not worth the hassle unless you have an abundance of free time), but a little bit of something is better than nothing in my opinion...good luck with your purchase, I'm sure you have seen some of the ACE threads on here, its really a great system and I am positive you will love it, along with all the other upgrades you will get with the new model :D

Is it leaking now? If so, and it is in the plumbing, trade it in. If not, you could wait for next time major repair comes. Unless you think all the upgrades are worth it. New controls. Nicer sculplting. New lights. DX Moto Jet. ACE system...

Yes it is lealing now. The question is should a Hot Springs spa last longer then 10 years and a price for new Grandee of about 10,000.00 with ACE salt water system good price.

Yes, it should last longer than 10 years on average and once fixed it will. The reality is you've just had worse luck than average. Its like someone saying that if you own a Honda it'll usually go 200,000+ miles on its transmission. That’s great as an average except there are always going to be some people who own one where they had issues sooner than the norm. In other words, "your mileage may vary" and yours unfortunately has.
