Hot Springs Grandee

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Someone has a Hot Springs Grandee model they're saying is from 2005 on Craigs List (asking $3,800 and they will move it--not sure I'd take them up on it, may have it moved professionally). Anyways, I was finally able to get the serial number from the guy, as I understand you can tell when they were manufactured by that. Here it is: GG1h1504.

Could someone please tell me how old this is and approximately what it's worth? He was starting out well over $4,000, then dropped to $4,000 and is now offering it at $3,800 including moving it for us.

We haven't looked at it yet or wet tested it yet (we would definitely do this first), but he's been a bit evasive, so I wanted to see if the serial number matches up with what he's telling me on how old it is (since he didn't buy it from a dealer).

Thanks for any answers!!

Correct - 1st quarter '06. The high value in the "HotSpring Blue Book" is $3450 add $100 for an Uprite or Cover Cradle, add $100 for a cover in Excellent condition. Find out exactly how he plans on moving it.

Check the underneath of the cover, if it's getting real rough and/or the jet faces looked faded they had a pH problem and stay away from it.

That serial number is a 2006. As an '06 it should have Stainless Steel jet coverings. So there may not be immediately visible pH induced fading. $3,800 is a pretty fair private party price for that kind of hot tub. As with any used spa, I would always recommend viewing it while it's filled and running. That way you can see that the jets work, it's not leaking, and heated properly. :)

On a newer spa like that, leaks aren't much of a worry. However, if you're in a cold climate you want to make sure they never left it "empty" in the winter.
