Guest diane
we just bought a new house in new england with a 30 year old pool. the pool is leaking significantly - at a rate of 6"/day! it equalizes just below the level of the shallow end so we suspect the leak is either the concrete floor in the shallow end or the seam btwn the concrete floor and the fiberglass side panels. this level is below the pool light so that is ruled out. the main drain is already plugged so that is ruled out. we've hired a local company to patch some cracks in the concrete floor but it is still leaking. we are at a loss as to what to do - resurface the concrete, drop in a vinyl liner (it is a free form shape), other options. help!!!! Guest karl Buchanan
Is there a putty or caulking that can be used underwater?
Guest RM
You can buy pool putty at most pool supply stores. It comes in two tubes. You mix about what you think you will need and need it well. It hardens underwater.
my pools leak sometimes
United Leak Detection You can buy pool putty at most pool supply stores. It comes in two tubes. You mix about what you think you will need and need it well. It hardens underwater. A leak detection company can pinpoint a leak to within a couple of inches usually. I use United Leak Detection. They track it down for me, and I can fix it without damaging the pool shell too much, and the homeowner is happy because the bill stays low since there is not a lot of concrete to remove (and it doesn't take very long). United Leak's website is www.unitedleak.com and they are fast and do good work for a reasonable price.
Pool Guru
@my pools leak sometimes Answering questions with good information is helpful to customers, but simply spamming by answering 2 1/2 year old questions with nothing more than a link to your website is not helpful and not appreciated. If you have something to say, please stick around and answer a few questions. A link to your website in your signature line is fine when the answer has some benefit. But if you are just here to spam and run, then it is less appreciated by all, especially the pros! That type of activity will do nothing but bring down the quality of the board and the benefit to the consumer. If you have a problem with my opinion, please feel free to post it here or to send me an email. John
my pools leak sometimes
[/size] Re; POOL GURU I did not notice that the post was old, and after calling Doug at United Leak Detection, I realized that they do not service New England. Sorry for the mix-up though a leak detection company will certain solve their issues. All in all, I recommend less complaing, more working together and a call to United Leak Detection if you are in the MIDWEST, USA Sorry for the confusion, please refer all other questions to the Pool Fogey, er Guru. www.Unitedleak.com (ask for Doug, he is a nice guy and he is good at finding leaks in pools. he is probably good at finding leaks in other things to, but I am not a plumber. I work with Pools.) Thanks, Bob Class Integrity Pools 1425 Chestnut Drive Columbus, Indiana 46202
