poolfool72
I have a Hayward gas heater. The "Service" light is on and it's flashing the code "LO" and "60". What is this? The heater seems to still work. Everything's controlled by a panel inside the house. If I push the "Stand By" button on the heater, the service light goes off. If I push "Spa" or "pool" buttons on the heater the service light comes on along with these codes. Please help.... I never heat the spa or pool. Can I just leave it on "Stand By"? Pool newbie... pooltech9
The "LO" code means "Loop Open", referring to your safety loop switches. Most likely it's your pressure switch that's open due to low water flow usually caused by a dirty filter. The "60" code is really "bO" meaning "bypass operation" in which your heater's internal thermostat is bypassed so as to control the set temperature by your remote. The "bO" mode can be changed by putting the unit in "standby", hold the "Mode" and "Down Arrow" in until the "bO" appears or dissappears. To operate from the remote the "bO" must be on and the heater in "pool" mode.

A few follow up questions.... 1) Will the Loop Open code go away after backwashing? 2) So since the heater is controlled by a control panel inside the house, I assume the bO code is normal? No need to be concerned with this code? Thanks again.
pooltech9
If the "LO" code doesn't go away after backwashing, cleaning skimmer baskets & pump basket, you may need a pool professional. The "bO" code MUST be lit and the heater in pool mode in order to operate it remotely.
