Safety Cover Water Runoff

First post here, I have an inground fiberglass pool (32'X14') with a solid safety cover on it. It currently has a safety cover pump on it for pumping rain water and snow melt off it. I've never been satisfied with the pump idea.

Has anyone tried installing, for example, 2X6's tapered cut at the ends across pool resting on the apron? Making the cover convex so the water would drain off naturally.

Has anyone tried pool pillows to raise pool cover enough to drain? Open to ideas.

Not interested in covers with mesh in the center, want to keep pool water level where it's at.

Thanks

Dan,

The reality is your cover is going to hold water whether it has a pump or not. I understand you don't like the performance of the pump, but why do you want to remove it naturally? You can create a crown in the center by using lumber but you run the risk of the cover being damaged under heavy now loads. Do you live in a warmer climate?

If you are not experiencing any negative affects to your cover or home from the left over water on the cover, my advise would be to leave it alone.
