bizdoc
I am using the leisure time reserve/renew system The first 4 months iwth the new spa, pH stayed in range. Upon refill, and less often use, the pH tends to creep up over a few weeks from 7.4 to 8. What is the cause, and more importantly, what is the solution. Thanks
Nitro
The cause is most likely aeration (jets/air). The solution is to lower your TA by 5 ppm, and see if it helps. If not lower TA another 5 ppm. Continue until pH stays < 8.0, or you get to 50 ppm TA. Also add borates to your tub. That will help reduce pH drift.
PaulR
What Nitro said. My TA is 50 and borates 30; pH has been rock-solid 7.5 for over a month. I'd suggest reducing TA first, after you put in borates it takes more acid to move the pH. --paulr
