rye67
I have a Waterway sand filter. The last few days I've noticed my pressure dropping as the pump runs (from 11 p.s.i to about 6 p.s.i). I've also noticed alot of air bubbles coming from the return into the pool. When the pump shuts off all of the water in the strainer basket disappers. As it disappears I hear a loud sucking sound. When I take the strainer lid off it sounds sort of like when you open a plastic bottle of soda. I'm sure I am sucking air and was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems. *Note* I do not see any air bubbles inside the strainer lid when the filter is running. HELP!!!! ANG
You have an air leak. Easiest way to find out where it is , is to let the pump pick up its prime and shut the pump off. Water will spit out where the leak is. Hopefully it will be in the pump basket o-ring which can be replaced. It couuld also be in a valve or the male adapter on the suction side of the pump.
