  1. You might try the Dimension One Diplomat. It has two loungers, one for a taller person and one for a shorter person. The shorter one was just a bit too short for me (I'm 5'8"). We went with the D1 Californian, which fit both of us better and has just one lounger. We also looked at Arctic. The D1 just fit our needs better. The Arctic dealer in Vancouver, WA was very nice. They had a Cub and Glacier filled up in their private testing room, and even let us test a Tundra and another (I forget the model name) in their warehouse. I feel that a wet test is very important if you're considering a lounger. I wouldn't purchase a tub if I couldn't be sure about its fit. If one dealer won't fill up a tub that you are seriously considering, then give another dealer who will, your business.
  2. Thanks! Yes, the tub was delivered by the dealer. It wasn't wrapped in the 'from the factory' plastic as it was a floor model...
  3. Here is our new D1 Californian, with the LFX package and Advanced In.Tune stereo. Pre-hot tub. The tub has arrived, on a beautiful day. Here it comes... Ready for water! Halfway full... Jets going while initial chems are added. At night, the multi LED lights look great; we love the look of the stainless jets... Rainbow effects; that lounge is really comfortable! Waterfall lit up. I think this is the coolest control panel I've seen on a tub! The perfect temp during summer! We've been in this almost everyday since installation. We love it!
  4. Sdr, you realize that even the mere mention of the 'C' word could send this topic spinning off into argument oblivion... Can't think of many better ways to spend the Labor Day weekend than enjoying my shiny new tub!
  5. Sorry for the ugh '80's song reference, but I really am SO EXCITED!!! Our new D1 Californian is to be delivered on Saturday, 9/1/07! It's funny how, in the time between ordering the tub and when it arrives, I've noticed all of these new little aches and pains. I think to myself, 'It sure would be nice to have a spa to soak away in...OH Yeah, I soon will have one ' The electrician comes on Friday to do the electrician stuff. Our quote was $1100. Ouch, but the fact that we got a great deal on the tub helps offset that a bit. Then on Saturday, he'll come out to hook up the tub. Oh I can't wait!! Will post some pics to share. I feel like the saying 'a watched pot never boils', it feels like Saturday will never come!
  6. Congrats on your tub choice! We also found this forum of great value for the informed opinions/experiences that helped us navigate through the many different choices of tubs out there! And yes, dealers will do better to highlight what makes their particular tubs so good, rather than what makes the competition 'so much worse.' We decided on our recent D1 purchase in part because the dealer did not bash other tub makers/dealers. They explained why they sell/believe in D1 and let our wet test decide whether it was a good fit for us.
  7. I think our dealer was selling the Amore Bay for $11,500.
  8. We just put a down payment on a D1 Californian w/ the LFX and Advanced InTune Audio. The floor model that we wet tested was marked down $900 to $8700. We felt this was a great deal, having done a D1 price search here. It's the Ultralife white shell with Ocean Wave (blue) tile. We were almost ready to go with the Caldera Tahitian, but thought 'Let's just TRY the D1 and see how it feels.' Well, obviously, we're glad we did! We would have been more than happy w/ the Caldera, but the Californian felt just a little better, and at a great price. It's kind of hard to believe that, after all the research and looking around and wet testing, that our search is done! Anyway, just had to share some of our excitement! Thanks for everybody's advice! I look forward to asking the 'I OWN a tub and..' questions now!
  9. After wet testing several different brands of tubs, we are leaning toward Caldera. Not sure if it will be a Tahitian, Geneva, or Niagara. We tested the Niagara, but not the other two as they weren't 'wet' in the showroom. Our price would be $8800 on the Tahitian, and $9100 for the Geneva and Niagara, inc. all the usual extras. We were also considering Marquis Epic, and Arctic Cub/Kodiak/Tundra. Our local Sundance dealer didn't impress us much, as their tubs were all outdoors collecting dust We really were impressed with the Caldera water power, seat comfort, and jetting variation. The Arctic was a close second.
  10. Tom, thanks for the clarification...I asked that question before my dealer informed me that the castcore cover is included in the price. The pricing sheet we had was just a little confusing, as it made it look like there was a price for the tub, and then you had the prices for the 'additional features', such as the cover, ozone, delivery, forever floor, etc. Well, after a relaxing white water rafting trip this past weekend, it's back to the hot tub decision making!! I want one so bad I can taste the chlorine/bromine/baqua already!!
  11. That's the same price that Marquis factory store is quoting here in Portland. It's about $500 less than usual price. Not sure about the Caldera...maybe the Martinique, although our local dealer has it going for (if memory serves me correctly, it's been a few weeks since we last were in the showroom) about $7000. Have you wet tested the 641R yet? We tended to float in the lounge... Using the search tool could help you find more pricing info, too. It helped me, along with other posters' replies...
  12. Well, the 25th Anniversary Euphoria only has a 90 day warranty, so that's no longer an option. However, they do have a new Epic with cosmetic blemish for $9000. This includes full warranty (minus the shell surface warranty) and coverlift. Dilemna, dilemna...
  13. [quote from Arctic Cub on Aug. 6, 2007 at 7:27 p.m. My dealer had listed all the prices of the add-ons separately, then said they include them in their total price for the tub...this is the cover, chemicals, steps, northern lights, basic ozonator, microban, forever floor.....as far as the cover, the castcore rocks, why in the world would you want any other? Well, we wet tested the Arctics yesterday, much more comfortable wet than dry, IMO. Our dealer indicated the same as yours...$8450 for the Cub Signature, which does include the castcore cover w/lifter, northern lights, Arctic ozone, microban, forever floor, Tru-guard heater, chems, delivery. Of course, they had to have a Tundra Legend sitting there wet, all warmed up and inviting...we loved it but can't justify going $2000+ above the Cub. The Tundra Signature would only be $300 more than the Cub, but we don't know what the loss of 28 jets and a pump would feel like... Just thought I'd update for anyone interested!
  14. I kinda thought so, too! But wasn't sure if the pump probs on the older Euphorias (this came up when I 'searched' Euphoria here on the Forum) would be an issue? I assume that Marquis would have addressed those issues by now, and would equip their new tubs appropriately... Of course, it does hinge on the full warranty being intact...otherwise, I might as well buy a used tub! Thanks for the replies and I look forward to any more advice you all might have!
  15. Since we're in the same basic region (PNW), what did the Geneva set you back, and what did that price include? If you don't mind, of course! We just tested the Marquis Epic, and are about to go test the Arctics. Still need to test the Calderas, though... Thanks
  16. We just came from a Marquis wet test, sat in the U530 and the Epic. U530 was okay although we floated in the lounges (we're 5'7" and 5'10"). The Epic was great, good power from the many HK40 jets, and the lounger fit better. But, $11,400 is a bit more than want to spend. The dealer has a 744E dry display. It's the old Euphoria tub with less-powerful jets (HK8, not HK40). Price is $7200. The dealer said he had some 25th Anniversary Euphoria models with shell blemishes. These DO have the many HK40 jets unlike the 744E. Since we are looking for neck/upper back therapy primarily, and the 25 Ann. Euphoria has HK40's for its neck/upper back jets instead of the 744E's HK8's, this peaked our interest. If the 25th Anniversary Euphoria w/ blemish comes with the full Marquis warranty (as the blemish is cosmetic, not structural), and they are selling it for about $7500, does this sound like a good deal? The more concise post: 25th Anniversary Euphoria...cosmetic blemish...full warranty...majority HK40 jets, not the HK8's...$7500 vs. Epic's $11,400... Anything we're missing or is this a great deal? Thanks for your input!
  17. Actually just got back from Marquis wet test, and noticed the Epic was going for $11,400. So, you could actually have an even better value than I originally thought! Haven't wet tested Caldera yet, but we loved the Epic's versatile 'Therapy Pillar', just a bit pricey
  18. It's not a matter of me wanting a different cover than the castcore. Arctic touts the castcore as a key part of their heatlock insulation, and it appears that they only offer that particular cover. Why, then, would they indicate that this cover is a $300 option? Unless they offer a different cover as standard w/ the tubs? But I can't find any evidence of this. Tom or Glenn(from Arctic), am I mistaken? If so, please correct me Cub, you say he listed the items seperately, then included them in the final price? As in, he added the individual items to the price of the tub, and then showed you the sum total price, or he said that the (for example) Summit Signature model bases at $9600, or the $9600 list price includes tub, castcore, ozone, etc.? I only ask, because most other companies give a price for a tub and show which 'extras' are included in that price, whereas Arctic seems to do an 'ala carte' pricing (tub, PLUS cover, ozone, GFCI, delivery, etc.). Keep in mind, we haven't actually started to negotiate pricing w/ Arctic yet, just looking at pricing sheet given to us... I like Arctic, but want to know a ballpark price, not 'Well, the tub itself is $XXX (in my range), but when you start to add on what other companies include in their pricing, you're now at $XXX + $2000! (not so much in range anymore)' Again, thanks for the input!
  19. not sure of your location, but here in Portland an Epic is about $10,800, and Geneva is about $9000...so, assuming they're new '07's, your price on the Epic is a better value (pricewise). Just my 'newbie to this' opinion, though! Both are excellent tubs!
  20. After visiting the Arctic dealer, reading through the brochure, and looking on this forum, I'm wondering: Does Arctic offer a cover OTHER than the 5/4 Castcore cover? They indicate it's an 'upgrade' option, but I can't find evidence that their tubs come included with a 'basic' cover. Are they charging for the cover separately? If so, that's odd, since every other tub company includes some form of cover in the price. Also, when negotiating with Arctic, should we indicate that the competing tubs we're considering come WITH ozone, cover, lift, etc., for a similar price? Especially since these are name-brand tubs such as Marquis, D1, Caldera, etc.? Otherwise, the price for an Arctic tub seems to go through the roof. We aren't looking for stereo and TV screens, after all... Also, if we assumed a 30% markup, would offering a price at 10% markup instead be reasonable? Thanks for the input/advice!
  21. Okay, going back to post #30...and hopefully helping to get this thread back on topic... Jman, do you mean you now sell both Calspa and Jacuzzi? Or did you give up on Calspa?
  22. Newbie, first off, thanks for being a great poster--they're concise and easy to understand. You give prices for the 8' Arctics, do you know about the 7' tubs (or the others smaller than 8')? Also, with the general consensus being full foam ins. is 'better' than thermopane, how does Arctic's system do so well (according to their website, and many posters on this site)? Thanks!
  23. Rob, did the plumbing store/Sundance dealer have the initials G. M. P. S. (don't want to bash them, as they are good source for plumbing supplies)? And are you closer to Portland or Cali border? And regarding the 'One whom we dare not name", please , everyone, don't antagonize the zoo monkeys, as they tend to fling even more poo at you!
  24. Rob, I just went to my local outlet of the plumbing store/Sundance dealer you mentioned, and all of their tubs were dry, outside under an overhang, with a layer of dust/dirt on their surface. Not very welcoming to a dry test (as we didn't want to get our clothes all dirty!), and if we wanted to wet test, we'd have to go to another store outlet. Also, they weren't very enthusiastic about the tubs. Does anyone know how these prices are in the realm of Sundance tubs? Are Rob and I (since we're in the same basic region) getting a fair price quote? Also, the Caldera price seems pretty good, as my local Caldera dealer has the Geneva and Tahitian for $9K, I believe. Isn't hot tub/spa shopping/researching fun!
