  1. You might try the Dimension One Diplomat. It has two loungers, one for a taller person and one for a shorter person. The shorter one was just a bit too short for me (I'm 5'8"). We went with the D1 Californian, which fit both of us better and has just one lounger. We also looked at Arctic. The D1 just fit our needs better. The Arctic dealer in Vancouver, WA was very nice. They had a Cub and Glacier filled up in their private testing room, and even let us test a Tundra and another (I forget the model name) in their warehouse. I feel that a wet test is very important if you're considering a lounger. I wouldn't purchase a tub if I couldn't be sure about its fit. If one dealer won't fill up a tub that you are seriously considering, then give another dealer who will, your business.
  2. Thanks! Yes, the tub was delivered by the dealer. It wasn't wrapped in the 'from the factory' plastic as it was a floor model...
  3. Here is our new D1 Californian, with the LFX package and Advanced In.Tune stereo. Pre-hot tub. The tub has arrived, on a beautiful day. Here it comes... Ready for water! Halfway full... Jets going while initial chems are added. At night, the multi LED lights look great; we love the look of the stainless jets... Rainbow effects; that lounge is really comfortable! Waterfall lit up. I think this is the coolest control panel I've seen on a tub! The perfect temp during summer! We've been in this almost everyday since installation. We love it!
  4. Sdr, you realize that even the mere mention of the 'C' word could send this topic spinning off into argument oblivion... Can't think of many better ways to spend the Labor Day weekend than enjoying my shiny new tub!
  5. Sorry for the ugh '80's song reference, but I really am SO EXCITED!!! Our new D1 Californian is to be delivered on Saturday, 9/1/07! It's funny how, in the time between ordering the tub and when it arrives, I've noticed all of these new little aches and pains. I think to myself, 'It sure would be nice to have a spa to soak away in...OH Yeah, I soon will have one ' The electrician comes on Friday to do the electrician stuff. Our quote was $1100. Ouch, but the fact that we got a great deal on the tub helps offset that a bit. Then on Saturday, he'll come out to hook up the tub. Oh I can't wait!! Will post some pics to share. I feel like the saying 'a watched pot never boils', it feels like Saturday will never come!
  6. Congrats on your tub choice! We also found this forum of great value for the informed opinions/experiences that helped us navigate through the many different choices of tubs out there! And yes, dealers will do better to highlight what makes their particular tubs so good, rather than what makes the competition 'so much worse.' We decided on our recent D1 purchase in part because the dealer did not bash other tub makers/dealers. They explained why they sell/believe in D1 and let our wet test decide whether it was a good fit for us.
  7. I think our dealer was selling the Amore Bay for $11,500.
  8. We just put a down payment on a D1 Californian w/ the LFX and Advanced InTune Audio. The floor model that we wet tested was marked down $900 to $8700. We felt this was a great deal, having done a D1 price search here. It's the Ultralife white shell with Ocean Wave (blue) tile. We were almost ready to go with the Caldera Tahitian, but thought 'Let's just TRY the D1 and see how it feels.' Well, obviously, we're glad we did! We would have been more than happy w/ the Caldera, but the Californian felt just a little better, and at a great price. It's kind of hard to believe that, after all the research and looking around and wet testing, that our search is done! Anyway, just had to share some of our excitement! Thanks for everybody's advice! I look forward to asking the 'I OWN a tub and..' questions now!
  9. After wet testing several different brands of tubs, we are leaning toward Caldera. Not sure if it will be a Tahitian, Geneva, or Niagara. We tested the Niagara, but not the other two as they weren't 'wet' in the showroom. Our price would be $8800 on the Tahitian, and $9100 for the Geneva and Niagara, inc. all the usual extras. We were also considering Marquis Epic, and Arctic Cub/Kodiak/Tundra. Our local Sundance dealer didn't impress us much, as their tubs were all outdoors collecting dust We really were impressed with the Caldera water power, seat comfort, and jetting variation. The Arctic was a close second.
  10. Tom, thanks for the clarification...I asked that question before my dealer informed me that the castcore cover is included in the price. The pricing sheet we had was just a little confusing, as it made it look like there was a price for the tub, and then you had the prices for the 'additional features', such as the cover, ozone, delivery, forever floor, etc. Well, after a relaxing white water rafting trip this past weekend, it's back to the hot tub decision making!! I want one so bad I can taste the chlorine/bromine/baqua already!!
  11. That's the same price that Marquis factory store is quoting here in Portland. It's about $500 less than usual price. Not sure about the Caldera...maybe the Martinique, although our local dealer has it going for (if memory serves me correctly, it's been a few weeks since we last were in the showroom) about $7000. Have you wet tested the 641R yet? We tended to float in the lounge... Using the search tool could help you find more pricing info, too. It helped me, along with other posters' replies...
  12. Well, the 25th Anniversary Euphoria only has a 90 day warranty, so that's no longer an option. However, they do have a new Epic with cosmetic blemish for $9000. This includes full warranty (minus the shell surface warranty) and coverlift. Dilemna, dilemna...
  13. [quote from Arctic Cub on Aug. 6, 2007 at 7:27 p.m. My dealer had listed all the prices of the add-ons separately, then said they include them in their total price for the tub...this is the cover, chemicals, steps, northern lights, basic ozonator, microban, forever floor.....as far as the cover, the castcore rocks, why in the world would you want any other? Well, we wet tested the Arctics yesterday, much more comfortable wet than dry, IMO. Our dealer indicated the same as yours...$8450 for the Cub Signature, which does include the castcore cover w/lifter, northern lights, Arctic ozone, microban, forever floor, Tru-guard heater, chems, delivery. Of course, they had to have a Tundra Legend sitting there wet, all warmed up and inviting...we loved it but can't justify going $2000+ above the Cub. The Tundra Signature would only be $300 more than the Cub, but we don't know what the loss of 28 jets and a pump would feel like... Just thought I'd update for anyone interested!
  14. I kinda thought so, too! But wasn't sure if the pump probs on the older Euphorias (this came up when I 'searched' Euphoria here on the Forum) would be an issue? I assume that Marquis would have addressed those issues by now, and would equip their new tubs appropriately... Of course, it does hinge on the full warranty being intact...otherwise, I might as well buy a used tub! Thanks for the replies and I look forward to any more advice you all might have!
