  1. Well its a arguement you can have with just about anything when I was buying a motorhome I looked at many and the one I bought does not have real tile or fancy sinks or super thick carpet or as big a diesel engine but I drove it to Florida last year for bike week just the same it just cost a great deal less . I know the higherend pushers are much nicer but the diesel engine and air brakes are made by the same company that made mine even the tires are the same brand . And i know looking under many hottubs that many are the same parts in cheap tubs as well as top of the line. Sure there are some that use exclusive items but many are generic just like many other items in the world. And yes I have a friend who has a jewelery store and even he admited that his niece bought her ring at costco as she got a better diamond at a price less than he can get wholesale and he would have done the same as her and my son did if you can find the one that you love there ..
  2. I can promise you I wont forget how much I paid for my spa...nor any item I pay over a couple hundred bucks for. You are right the spa isnt a 10k spa on sale for 5k, its a spa that has all the same features as that dealer spa without the dealer markup or after sale service. Thats is the biggest misconception i keep hearing. What do you think their mark up is 1% They are in this to make money not to sell a product near cost. Its a publicly traded company and the bottom line is shareholder dividends. I would bet that their margin of profit on each tub is 25-30%. So tell us how much is your profit margin ?? I believe I read somewhere that costco caps it margin on products at 14-15 % and much in the store is less than that ,, so again what is the mark up by dealers on tubs that is the question
  3. So the question is how much do the dealers pay for the 10000.00 spa are they making 10% or 50% so behind all the smoke and mirrors are they buying a 5000 tub and doubling the price I would sure as hell hope if I am paying 10000.00 for a tub i would be getting a great deal more. Just like I get if I go to the Cadiliac dealer instead of the Chevy dealer. I drive chevys as well.
  4. I always like to make sure I leave some grammer and spelling mistakes . That way it you can try and make me shut up by making me look less bright than you . Sorry its an old internet game but I have been around to long to let that shut me up. I guess next you will tell me I am a shill for a hot tub company or just call me a liar .. I just thought I would post my thoughts ofr all to read .. All ready have a fireman in the family to put the flames out so flame on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And for those of you new to chat rooms and fourms such as these any time you see people trying to make others look stupid because of spelling mistakes or grammer or EVEN TYPING WITH CAPS LOCK ON the only reason it is done is beacuse they have no other way to try and make someone shut up who they dont agree with. Or they have no ability to argue the facts ! By the way did not think I was sneering at anyone by just posting my thoughts if i came across that way it was not meant to.
  5. Boy oh boy there are sure a great deal of hard feelings on this site . I have been lurking here for awhile now and have learned quite a bit but here are some things I have learned in my years of hot tub and pool ownership. First tub was bought from a dealer and was finetub had it for about 11 years and it had a lot of use was great support from the manufacturer as dealer closed after a couple of years . Then the company who built the tub closed Sonoma was the company . So now all I had was the internet and was able to find most of the suff I needed to keep it running . So paying extra for a local dealer was not such a big deal after that as both dealer and company had been around for quite . Fast forward a few years and we decide to buy a new tub. We shopped all the local dealers found some great tubs all in the 8000.00 to 12000.00 prices just about decided that we would not have a hot tub as did my son who also was shopping for one. We had looked at costco and one of the employees told my wife about the tub his dad had bought at costco and how much he liked it the Platium elite with all the bells and whistles we drove to another costco to look at one but it was sold and they were loading it up as we got there. We went back to our local store and they told us they had three coming in a week or so . Well after a lot oof thinking we waited and when they arrived we hooked up the trailer and bought 2 the morning they arrived at the store the third one was sold while we were loading the trailer. We thought what a grea t deal. Both tubs were set up and both ran perfect I did have some problems with the low pressure switch would cause a error and after a few phone calls to hydrospa and some parts that they sent quick and paid for the return of the old ones as well it works great ... My son had only one problem with his tub and that was just a bad speaker which thay also replaced with just a phone call by him . So I find the statements here strange about bad customer service byt the builder funny as we have had no problems if I left them a message they called back. So the bottom line that I see is buy the tub you like and can afford do not be afraid of the costco tub as I bet most of the parts are the same as those other tubs I will admit that I think these could use a bit more foam in them but other wise i have no complaints about saving thousands . And no I don't work for costco or any hot tub company .. By the way My future daughter inlaw just spent over 3500.00 on her ring at costco as it was the best ring for the price as well.
