  1. My wife and I got our first hot tub two weeks ago. I immediately started looking for beginner information about owning one. We kind of bought spur of the moment but are satisfied with the purchase. The salesman, of course, extolled the virtues including a type of sanitation I did not know about called Nature2 mineral sanitizer. He said "we would not have to do anything else to keep water sanitary except to change mineral stick and water every 4 months. After getting the tub running and actually reading the manual the information I had received was now suspect. I have worked in a power plant for 37+ years and know a little about water quality. I went on the web and immediately got into information overload from various sources that all had some product to sell. So I went to our local pool/spa specialist. This specialist only deals with pool/spa maintenance and has been in business since 1980. They have many clients in the area who they keep up the maintenance on their clients pools and sell supplies. I went to them to ask for help. After two ours of conversation I was much more enlightened in spa ownership but question still his advice on maintaining my spa. I was told that my maintenance should be no more than changing water every month and adding a cap full of a bromine product every week. This was all I have to do for our spa. Our spa is an LVI manufactured Signature branded 375 gallon spa. Does this sound acceptable? I did buy the Taylor K-2006 kit but am just sitting down to read the manual. Thanks in advance!
  2. A friend of mine called me last year when his tub quit working, like yours, but had power. It was after a thunderstorm. I found a small (1/8 amp {0.125 amp}) fuse that had blown. I had to ensure all power was off before moving any wires as the fuse was well covered on the circuit board. We replaced the fuse and all is well. Good luck and remember electrical safety!
