When I do a weekly shock with the 3 step bromine system, how do I know how much bleach to use? I only have 8.25% bleach available and my tub holds 500 gallons. Is the bleach amount based on the amount of water in the tub or the free bromine level? Thanks in advance for the responses!

Thanks for the reply! A little background on us, my wife hears about something then she keeps bringing it up till I make it happen. I think her familiarity with hydrogen peroxide from the drug store leads her to think it is a safer chemical to be around. She believes that most chemicals not appearing naturally are harmful to life. Anyways, I did some research about standards in Australia and found that to use only hydrogen peroxide a uv light filter must always be used. Can somebody point me towards some good info on those filters please. Thanks again Chem Geek

Hello all, I've been using waterbear's bromine system for about a year with great success. My wife has heard of people using a hydrogen peroxide system in their hot tub and wants to switch to use less chemicals. Her and I are the only bathers and we use the tube once or twice a week. The tub does have a ozone generator if that matters at all. If somebody could let me know the process or point me in the right direction that would be great! Thanks in advance!
