  1. Let's see if it keeps going. Make sure you have a good flow of bubbles from the heater return (bottom drain). So far so good. Pete, it seems to happen when I have the front panel off. I thought maybe it's just coincidence because I'm there but it seems to go fine for days if leave the panel on? Is that crazy or does that sound like something that could cause the pump to shut down? thx bob Crazy coincidence.
  2. Assuming this is a current, new Vanguard, t-stat is tweaked high, to keep it always at or above set temp. It used to be set +/- set temp. So, I suggest you turn down temp a couple of degrees. You may have to add an inch of water, as tub is so well insulated it will take quite a while to cool off a few degrees.
  3. Have you added loading dose of sodium bromide? Do you shock weekly?
  4. Frankly, it would be just as reasonable for you to search a wider area for a dealer that has what you want to test. You might be a little to demanding? How have you arrived at these 2 models since you have not been able to even see them, much less tested them? Have you considered other brands? Hot Spring, Marquis and Sundance, to name a few, have spas with similar sizes. The Hot Spring Jetsetter is one of Hot Spring's biggest sellers.
  5. There may be some room to move. I know the TV is expensive. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
  6. Rumors have floated that TR will be discontinued. However, it is just a rumor. As long as they sell they will not be discontinued. Sounds like dealer choice. We love them and sell lots!
  7. They are actually offering you added service. I presume the water test they are offering is free. Sure they want to sell you chems. I would not consider it a requirement. Just a dealer thing.
  8. Here is a fact that might not have been shared with you. HS is owned by a publicly traded company. No other spa manufacturer is. By law, a publicly traded company has to have a reserve fund for warranty; privately held companies do not. Is their any value to you? Only you can decide.
  9. This debate can go on forever. Fact is the 100% no bypass system filters all the water when you are in the tub adding "stuff." No other system does that. This is fact, not marketing. The question is what is the benefit? If you soak with others in non-filtered water, that is your choice. If you prefer to soak in water where everything is filtered all the time, you have to choose a Hot Spring. Having stated that (and I am a Hot Spring dealer), I agree that all the better brands have filtration systems that work to filter the water well when the jets are not on, i.e. when the tub is not being used.
  10. The testing is going to depend on what chemical program you choose. If you use Silk Balance you need virtually no testing. If you go with the ACE system once a month once it is dialed in. Most other systems want you to test weekly. There can be some warranty issues if pH is off. Read the warranty. It is on line on www.hotspring.com Your patio sounds like it is fine. Pre-Delivery instructions are also on the Hot Spring site. Your dealer should be able to provide both documents. If you have the brochure you should have the warranty. Hope this helps.
  11. How many people will be using tub? Most off the time just me, except when I have the company of a nice lady, so in other words, just me pretty much all the time Then I think you will find the Jetsetter is perfect. For 1 to 2 people it has plenty of jets. It is what I have. I am usually in the lounge and get have the moto massage for my back, the quartet system over the shoulders and a great foot jet.
  12. How many people will be using tub?
  13. That is a good price and yes with control panel on top it is a new Hotspring model. What does his 1 year warranty cover? Can you get him to fill and run it for you? for a good cleaning I like Natural Chemisrty's Spa Purge. You do need warm water to use but it is a natural product and in my opinion works really well. Even if there is something wrong with the spa and needs service you are still way under cost of a new one. Only you can make a decsion to buy or not. I say go for it Get the serial #. Have father-in-law's dealer call the factory and see if spa has ever been registered or had warranty service. You may be able to get warranty. All in all, great deal. I say go for it. To kill the germs, you will want to superchlorinate. Spa Purge does not address germs.
  14. For the electric run if it going to 50 feet you may or may not have a problem with undervoltage. That is with the run being far away and using a 15 amp device on it could make the hot tub act if there were something wrong. caused by what is called voltage drop. That is something a electrcian could check out for you. If you have a newer house I would think should be ok. DO NOT USE A EXSTENSION CORD The long electric run is required only if we run 230v, and after thinking about it again, it's more like a 75 ft. run. If I run 115v, there's an outlet right next to where we'll place the tub. Sounds like a good buy. Make sure you have a 20 amp. dedicated circuit.
  15. You should have looked at the AMORE BAY from DImension One Spas before selecting the MAXXUS. It is a very nice spa, but you could have recieved a lot more for your money with the AMORE BAY and they are the same size. It might be about $500 more, but it would have been worth it. Maxxus tub w/57 jets -Amore Bay w/68 Jets - Intelli-Sound System - Poly Planner Sound w/4 Speakers & Subwoofer (Optional) - Ozonator (Not Std) - Standard Ultrapure Plus (Patented) - Steps - Steps (No Problem) - Special Tri-Fold cover with lift - Std. Trip-Fold (Lifter should be on any spa) - Starter Chemical kit -Starter Chemical Kit (We also recomend Vision Sanitizer) - Delivery -Delivery (No Problem) Here is what you did not get - - Massage Sequencer Seat - Two Adjustable Neck Jet Headrest Pillows - Three Fountains Absurd comments. Two totally different products. Comparing apples and oranges. Not addressing poster's question.
  16. yes the bulbs loose there gusto about a year or so. Better ones are corona discharge but they will need service also in about 2 years give or take. They last forever. I am still on the fence wether they do any good or not. The output is low on some, Some companies say you should smell the ozone, some say you do. The life 03. is so short in warm water. I look at them as a option. IMO He said the industry has been moving away from ozone? No way. The industry might be moving away from UV bulb generating ozonators. As stated above, corona discharge is better. Higher output. Longer lasting. However, to be effective, if you do not have a circ pump, you need long filtration cycles.
  17. Hot springs is there top of the line and have the moto massage options. Tiger river and Limelight are about the same. All the improvements seem to be made to limelight line. There are always talking about dropping the Tiger River line but never happens. I also find the limelight spas more comfortable with better jet locations then the Hot Spring models. Hot Spot and Solana are the basic spas they make although they are made the same way except many models for these two use jet pump and fast flo heater instead of the circ pump and some can ran off 120 volts. Caldera spas are alos made by watkins Manufacturing which is owned by Masco Corp. They is alot of parts the are interchangable between product lines and most of the product in made Mexico. Hot Spring is made in Vista, CA, still in USA. Others made in Mexico, to same ISO standards.
  18. Jet count and horse power are truly a small concern in a hot tub. As has been stated, it depends on so many factors; type of jets, plumbing, the pump, etc. Remember, more, bigger pumps make the spa use more energy, cost more to use. Wet test is really all that is relevant in making the choice.
  19. I believe Marquis came out with one of the first triangle spas back in 2003. Keyes Backyard and Sundance made almost exact copies of it. I think the Rendezvous is going to give you the best fit and finish, and comes with a full 10/7/5 warranty which is longer than most of the other brands. If you don't want to get the entire signature package, you can get a Discovery version and get the DuraWood synthetic cabinet upgrade. Ask your dealer about that. Since it came out, the Rendezvous has been in the top 3 selling models every year for Marquis. It's a great spa. Have the Marquis dealer show you the panel where all of the equipment is at and then compare with the other spas you're looking at. You will see the difference. Not saying the Marquis is not a good tub. It is. However, quoting from their owner's manual, be aware of extra work involved with the equipment compartment: Leakage Detection Open the equipment door and check for signs of water leakage around the pump(s). Pump seals wear out over time, especially with improper water chemistry. Early detection of pump seal failure can significantly reduce repair costs. Pump seals, heater gaskets and pump gaskets must be checked each month to ensure they are not leaking. Further damage caused by a leak from any component is not covered under the warranty.
  20. It totally depends on where you live. Check local Craigslist. That is where you will learn the going rate. On the other hand, you have the peace of mind of knowing who you are buying from and what the service and care history of the spa are.
  21. What level of salt are they concerned with? What about chlorine or bromine levels?
  22. 10 years? I can't find that warranty on line. Am I missing something?
