  1. Great photos! Congratulations on the new hot tub! Have to say I love your covered patio. Very cool idea. So far as pricing goes, although our local Sundance dealer doesn't seem to sell many of the Maxxus model, I think you got a pretty good deal on it. That is one huge hot tub too!! Enjoy! Jeremiah, thanks ! The covered patio has worked out well and made the hot tub a lot more usable in this tough summer. Because it's shaded, we're able to get in the tub later in the evening even on hot days and it's still cool enough to enjoy. We're also hoping to be able to use it if it's misting/raining or snowing as well.
  2. SPA GUY - thanks for the kind words. To answer your questions.... we had already narrowed down our options to Jacuzzi and Sundance. Both dealers were within 30 minutes of our house and we felt comfortable talking with the sales associates at both. First, we tested the Jacuzzi J470, which was a VERY nice tub. I liked the the feel of the jets and the general look of the tub. The one thing I wasn't impressed with was the stereo system. It sounded very muffled, and even after changing the settings no it, the stereo system just didn't sound right to me. Having a decent stereo system was somewhat important because we like to work out in the yard at times and having music on ( without opening up the house ) is nice. The price we were quoted on the J470 was around 13,000 including delivery, stairs and everything. This seemed high to me, but was the best deal they were willing to make. Next, we wet tested the Sundance Optima, and that felt nice as well.... I loved the way those jets felt as well, and I particularly liked the neck jets. For the Maxxus, I really liked the size of the tub..... we have two younger children that get in with us often, and I wanted there to be room for them to move around. I liked the jets on the Maxxus, and I also liked that all 4 of the main seats had neck jets on them ( vs only 2 on the Optima ). The stereo on the Sundance models also sounded much better than the Jacuzzi J470. So, we went with the biggest tub.... and they were also willing to drop the price down to the range that Jacuzzi was selling it's J470 for. So it felt like we were getting a bit more for the money ( I say that relatively speaking, considering $13K for a hot tub in this world is NOT exactly a bargain ... :-). Anyhow, hope that helps answer some of your questions.....
  3. Just wanted to thank everyone for all the help in selecting our hot tub. We ended up with a 2010 Sundance Maxxus with stereo installed. Due to clearance issues above the hot tub, we were required to go with a tri-fold cover with Covermate lifter specifically made for the Maxxus. We have had the hot tub installed and up and running for about 2 months now and I wanted to give some thoughts on the installation process. We had planned to have the tub installed on our patio ( pavers ) only to learn that in our county, in order to acquire an electrical permit, we were not allowed to have a hot tub installed on a conductive surface without a bonding grid installed 3 feet around the perimeter of the hot tub. Since our patio did not have this grid installed ( it was built a few years ago ), we had to raise the tub an inch off the ground on a platform made of two by fours. We then put decking around three feet around the tub to satisfy the bonding issue. Once that was done, the electricians were able to run a 240V 60Amp circuit out and everything went well. We REALLY like the tub a lot and have been in it A LOT since we got it. All pumps/jets/features are working as advertised and we really like the look of the lights. We especially like the stereo system which sounds really nice. Our kids have been in with us and love the room they have to move around. The filter area is easily accessible and getting the water chemistry in the proper range was easily done. installation of the Covermate lifter was very straightforward. Posting a couple of pictures.... thanks again !
  4. Thanks for the feedback James....... I really appreciate it.
  5. After wet-testing a couple different spas.... we've decided to go with the Maxxus Just finished negotiating a deal which includes the following: - Maxxus tub w/57 jets - Intelli-Sound System - Ozonator - Steps - Special Tri-Fold cover with lift - Starter Chemical kit - Delivery ------------------------------------------ $ 12,850 +Tax = $ 771 ----------------------- Total = $ 13,621 Does this seem like a reasonable deal ?
  6. After doing more reading on this site ( and others )I've decided to steer clear of the Master Spa series altogether. Thanks to everyone who responded ! I do have to say, while continuing to search for the right spa, I am still leaning toward getting a sound system and lights.... we have younger children and think we would also enjoy having a sound system to play outside while working around the back yard....... We're interested in getting one of the larger tubs ( at least 6 people ) .......... the search continues.......
  7. Kenc, Thanks for the input. I have seen the tub personally and like the looks of it and the aesthetics. The delivery and service will come from Hot Tubs Inc ( located in Maryland ) and I also live in Maryland. So it seems I have local service for the spa. I was more wondering if that would "alleviate" the concerns someone would have with purchasing a "Master" Spa, given all the bad press I've seen on it. We had originally looked at a Dynasty, but liked the looks/features/price of the Master spa better. Thanks !
  8. I am new to the hot tub scene and am considering purchasing a Master Spa Twilight 8.2 with stereo system and LED ( LED's in jets also ). I've been reading through this forum and see that Master Spa has what appears to be a "dreadful" service reputation. and that I should make sure I know exactly who would support the spa when it needs repairs. I want to thank everyone for all the information being supplied concerning this. That being said, the company I'd be purchasing from is Hot Tubs Inc ( www.hottubsinc.com ) and I've contacted the owner who has assured me that he or another one of his technicians that work for him would be capable of providing any work required for this spa. Does anyone have any knowledge of this particular company ? Good or Bad ? Does anyone have any comments on the Twilight 8.2 Spa ? Good or Bad ? Is there anything else anyone would recommend I do before purchasing this spa ? I like the deal I was able to work out on this spa ( which includes, steps, cover, lift, chemicals...... etc ) and I also like the way it looks and how it would "setup" on our patio......... Thanks for any information anyone is willing to share........
