  1. "I dislike foam because EVERY tub leaks" That is completely false. I'm not a hot spring, jacuzzi, caldera dealer by any means but I have seen a whole lot f tubs that are 15-20 years old that are full foam that have never leaked. Whether or not maax makes a good spa I have no idea what they are making nowadays because there isn't a dealer close by to me presently. I have seen some of their older tubs and wasn't impressed but it seems they have ade some improvements. For you to claim full foam tubs always leak is absurd
  2. I have known john for a number of years now. He is by far the best tech I have seen out in the field. Whether it be a hot spring, dreammaker and everything in between this guy can fix anything. His biggest problem is he tells it like it is and some people get turned off by this apparently a poster on here even. I think this forum is making a mistake letting a poster of this quality go
  3. Processed gravel and compact, compact, compact. Liners are only meant to be installed once
  4. I know this spring it has taken longer then expected to get hot tubs in from factories though 6 weeks seems kind of excessive. Put a little pressure on the dealer by threatening to cancel unless he can give you a delivery date
  5. You either love lounges or they are a waste of space. If wet testing is not an option I would say go with the non lounger
  6. As far as quality they are on par with each other.
  7. What extras? The two tubs are both in their respective entry line series. If its just a stereo I would say go with the tempo
  8. I'm guessing you priced ferrari. The best dealer in the area as far as reputation would be the pool doctor in Coventry. There is also a dealer in Westwood though I don't know much about him. The amore bay is one of their most expensive tubs so price wise that's probably in the ballpark of what you can expect to pay in this area. Depending on where in eastern ma you are the pool doctor maybe your closest retailer anyway
  9. Offer closer to 2000, you will need a cover and a delivery man to get it to you so that tacks on another $800 or so
  10. Caldera is a very well respected brand. Which model is it? Put it on a cement slab or some sort of platform
  11. I own a swimming pool/ hot tub company. It does happen more then you would think. I have been called a number of times by people saying their brand new hot tub isn't working. 99% of the time the tub has been miswired by an electrician or the homeowner playing electrician. I do tell people up front though that if its warranty related its covered if not they are responsible for the charge. That is where in y opinion strong screwed up. They should have said that up front. The thing with hot tub manufacturers is most pay around $50 for warranty work. They don't pay trip or diagnostic charges. So you pretty much lose money anytime you do warranty work. Not all manufacturers work like this but many do
  12. You called reporting a problem. They say warranty isn't up. Tech comes says its not a warranty issue and you don't think you should have to pay? If this is common practice for strong then they won't be around long. They can't afford to pay bogus warranty charges. I have never seen a manufacturer pay more then $75 an hour so I'm still not sure how the tech thinks he's going to get paid tht much.
  13. Yes I would expect to get paid by you not strong. The only way strong pays this is if the tech lies about what the problem was.
  14. You better hope strong doesn't read this or you will be about the $255. This clearly wasn't a warranty issue and you should have been charged
  15. I have no idea the quality of either was just pointing out clearwater had been around for awhile. I'm sure they do cheapen out their tubs in ways that consumers would never no about. Now that i looked at those tubs they are selling for 6k ad up. You would be a fool to drop that much on a tub from costco. There are lots of options in that pricerangetht would be better options. The to-1040 is listed for 8k. That opens up brands like some hot springs, caldera or jacuzzi. If you want to stay underthe 6k look at a nordic.
  16. Neither has a reputation for quality. They have not been around long enough. It takes a few years for reputations to be valid. But if past history is any indication they are exactly what they are. An inexpensive option to a high quality more expensive tub. But they have a return policy. Roger that's not true clearwater has been around since 1976. Whether or not they make a good tub I have no idea as I've never seen one. The only strong spa that I have seen is the durasport series and those are not made very well but are priced accordingly usually around the 3k mark. Why not have a look at freeflow or nordic. They are in the same price range but make higher quality tubs available trough their dealer network
  17. The encore premium has been my best selling nordic for the last couple of years. Nordic tubs are known to be very reliable. I don't know where in New England you are but I'm in Massachusetts and always have one running in my showroom. If that's nearby to you message me and I will be more then happy to te you try one out. As far as the jets being uncomfortable I have never had a problem personally with them being uncomfortable nor have I heard from anybody claiming that. I think they are both great options in that price range. A the prices comparable on the two tubs?
  18. Did you by it direct from hawkeye or through a dealer? They are known to make subpar hot tubs I would cancel the order. And get something decent instead
  19. The dealer is going to know better the the electrician in this case. The 30/20 sub panel is the new hot springs. Supplies and the one I would use
  20. Where are you located? The vinyl pool is a super deal and I wonder if he's trying to figure ways not to lose money on the job and that's why he won't give you an install time. The cover star auto covers are great. My company is installing one on a new pool in a few weeks
