  1. I do not know my tubs electrical usage as I have not been running the tub for more than a week. I can tell you how I insulated the tub however I would not recommend this way to anyone yet since I don't know how much it has help or any negative repercussion of the technique I used (ie use at your own risk). I added the info under GG72s' insulated and installed post, which is a much cleaner looking job than how my install looks. http://www.poolspaforum.com/forum/index.ph...c=9744&st=0
  2. Nice job on the insulation. I was to lazy to track down roxul in my area so I used a different approach. I cannot say weather or not I recommend it yet, but I just wanted to contribute something to the discussion. I brought a roll of standard fiberglass insulation (R-11)and a couple of boxes of trash bags with twist ties. I stuffed about two feet of insulation into each trash bag and closed the top with twist ties. I figure this will help make the insulation moisture resistant and also prevent any loose fiberglass particles from being sucked into the motor. I also brought a couple of sheet of 1/2 inch pink foam board insulation and two types of tape; double sided sticky tape and foil heating duct tape. I cut the foam board to fit the side panels of the tub and used the double sided sticky tape to hold the foam boards in place. I could not place the foam board at the very top of the panel as it made the panel to thick to reinstall. I also installed the foam board on the floor of the tub in any area I could and place it underneath any tubing that was in contact with the floor. I stuffed the insulation filled trash bags everywhere I could fit them except near pumps and heater. I wanted to have a nice solid wall of insulation, but it turned out that is was not possible due to the some of the plumbing jutting out very close to the side panels. I then used the foil tape to seal the factory bubble foil wrap insulation back (I had to cut it to do the above work) and I also taped the bubble foil insulation to the bottom of the tub try to creat a more airtight seal. Then I reinstalled the panels. All the materials I used can be found a the local hardware chain. I would be cool to have t thermal imaging camera to see what the tub would look like. I might have just created a bunch of hot zones(where i stuffed the insulation) and cold spots (the weakly insulated area) in the tub
  3. right now i am also monitoring the inside cabinet temperature on everyones favorite spa, the infinity sun peak. It sounds as if it has the same type of setup as your spa. It has a very thin layer of foam on the shell and a large area of uninsulated space (air) between the shell and the panels. The spa is wrapped in what appears to be reflectix insulation for the thermal wrap. The inside cabinet temperature appeared to stay around 85-87 degrees while the outside temperature has been 60-50 degrees I just finished adding my own insulation today and will monitor the inside cabinet temp to see if it increases. Right now the inside cabinet temp is 90 and the outside temp is 63. I will provide better data when i download the logged temperatures.
  4. Hello all, I am just getting my spa running and i have hit a snag with the water chemistry. I checked the PH, CH, and TA of the water. My CH reading was 100ppm so i added 6 TBSP of Calcium Chloride to raise the CH 50ppm to reach 150ppm. Then I added Sodium Bromide to establish a bromine bank. I added approx. 1.7 oz of Sodium bromide to establish a bromine concentration of 30 ppm as per the directions on the bottle(0.5 oz/100gallons). When I tested for bromine, about 1hr later. I got a reading of 1.25ppm. 7hrs later the water did not test positive for bromine at all. Is this normal? I am not sure if i should shock the spa then do the bromine test or do i need to add more Sodium bromide and get a reading of 30ppm before adding the shock. I am using a talyor K-2106 test kit 330 gallon spa with ozonator thanks in advance
  5. Hi everyone, I am curious about using liquid chlorine (bleach) as a shock in a bromine system. Specifically How much liquid chlorine do i need to add to activate the bromine when performing a fresh fill (in a 350 gallon spa). Also what dosage to use for maintenance, before/after tub use? Thanks
  6. Hey everyone. I am a new spa owner and am trying to learn about water treatment. I have decided to use a bromine treament routine but i have a question about Chlorine VS Non-Chlorine shock. It seems like the maufactures say to use a non-cholrine shock, but i cannot understand why? I would like to know the disadvantages of using liquid Chlorine to activate the bromine. Is it rough on the equipment? Harder to added the proper dose? It seems like it would be easier to use cholrine as a shock instead of MPS. thanks
  7. thanks for the info egbert. I do not have a concrete pad in place, but i will have one poured.
  8. Hello everyone, I am need to this forum and i have a question about hooking a hot tub up. I do not have a good idea on how the 240 or 120 is connected to the tub. I don't recall seeing conduit running to a hot tub (never really looked). So my question is, How do you get the 240 or 120 to the hot tub when it is on a concrete pad? Do you create a holow feed through path in the concrete pad so you can run the electrial through the pad? And if so how did you determine where to locate the feed through?
