  1. This is my first post, I have a backround from service then moved to sales in Colorado but now actually travel the country selling spas at different events from home shows to tent sales and fairs. I sell almost every model so am very familiar with them and prices. I am not a fan of Coleman spas (made by Maxx, not the real Coleman camping company just the rights of the name leased) in select areas...reason being, if the power of your house goes out and its freezing outside you have no way to protect your spa from freezing. The second reason is because San Diego Gas and Electric did a study about 7 years ago showing a full insulated spa costs almost half of an uninsulated model. Will the Coleman cost double of a better insulated model like a Hot Springs or D1 (truely the two most efficent tubs on the market?) probably not double but will cost more. Im sorry but on an engineering stand point there 100% filtration is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Every spa but Hot Springs pulls water from the bottom...but the water you want being cleaned is floating at the top, the skin and hair all on the top. What they are CLAIMING is the intakes at bottom are sent into filter area...well the problem is if this is true you have NO WATER PRESSURE. If Coleman is using a 50 foot filter that means 50 gallons of water per minute will flow through it, the rest is bypassed through the bottom and blown through the jets like everyother tub. Now if the water is sent back to the filter that means it doesnt come from the jets? There are so many holes in this story I laughed my butt off the first time I heard it working at the Del Mar Fair (San Diego's month long hardest to work fair) The frame has a lifetime warranty, thats cool...what about the shell? Frames never fail, its the shells that break sometimes. How about having loose plumbing without the support of foam to prevent leaks? FOR ANY HOT TUB BUYER OUT THERE WHO READS THIS PAY CLOSE ATTENTION- Spa companies have people who try to re-invent the wheel...now if that works better or not they careless...most these companies want something DIFFERENT not better to talk about. If someone spends half an hour explaining something it probably means it doesnt make sense unless a salesman tries really hard to push it through. Steel framing is another thing that doesnt make any difference except its something to talk about. Well this is just one sales guys opinion...if you want the best deal goto a show to buy...only because dealers have to get more competitive. But remember cheaper prices doesnt mean better deals. My opinion you can get a better spa for around the same price From 1985-2002 Coleman had full foam and wood frame and trust me the full foam didn't make it more efficient and that's a fact. In the places where temperatures hit below 0 degrees foam over piping is available. How many states are there extreem climates? The Coleman makes a great spa
  2. Yeah check out Coleman's model 103 round model with 11 jets, waterfall, TL insulation 110 or 220V. I would choose the Nordic Crown 2 over Jacuzzi though. Both tubs have full foam. Dimension One also makes the tub "ARENA".
  3. Yes. The air jets are significanlty different and create a noticeable difference. Air is injected via thier own nozzles directly into the water. (As opposed to mixers that mix air with the water which creates a stronger jet of water against the body.) However, different isn't necessarly "better". I don't think Air is a "must have" option - it is kind of neat. I don't think it adds anything to the therapy, other than a neat cooling sensation, and by adding air to the water, you can cool the tub down a bit in hot weather. Yeah you're right! Also, all of those jet bodies for a hot tub can get hairy to replace and especially when there is foam encased around them from the backside of the shell.
  4. I am a happy owner who bought "one"....there are pictures posted on the forum of my tub. I couldn't vouch for anyones credentials on here...some have links or signatures claiming their position but I never give it much thought. Costco has salesmen?? Huh? Maybe there are some people who believe in the product they bought for whatever reason and feel they need to share their story. I know when I purchased my tub I was pleased with it. I wanted to post pictures so people who may be thinking of going this route could get an idea of what to expect and to show off my location for my tub. Hot tubbing is a hobby....just remember there are different levels of extreme in hobbies and yes..I am sure there are some people who hide behind the internet in an attempt to achieve a desired result...some also who don't hide and are open about who and what they do and are here to give advice or help. I wouldn't use this site or the internet for that matter, to make up my mind to buy any spa but I would use it as a tool to educate myself and know what I was or wasn't getting with the direction I decide to go with in purchasing a tub. Very well put. Are you still pleased with the tub? How long have you had it? Any service related issues? Post pictures up to date if you can please.
  5. Jacuzzi makes a quality product and I think more so than beachcomber. The amount of jets shouldn't be a big decision maker as the quality of jets and placement of jets should be more important and you will realize that as you are wet testing.
  6. There are alot of threads related to the Cotsco tub for a reason. Alot of sales people come on here to gain more knowledge with issues related to other tubs and there own. I always seem to see the most issues related to Cotsco tubs because they dont service them and they cut coners to lower manufacturing costs hence not as well of quality put in. Other than that you get what you pay for, no?
  7. Seriously that is the funniest scenario I have ever witnessed on this board. lol How did you do that? lol
  8. microban is implimented during the shell formation process and the problem with that is only certain parts of the shell contain it!
  9. I have pieced tubs out of backyards that was only 8 years old and I have brought complete hot tubs out of yards in one piece that was 19 years old. Depends on location and exposure to elements, termite problems, ant problems, ect... Sundance is a very good spa despite the wooden infrastructure. What do you mean sundance has less warranty than the other above manufacturers?
  10. I think we are getting a little off topic. Some guy wanted to get cheap eco pur filters, and now we are having a debate about the EPA! That's why I hate this board sometimes. Everyone is always trying to make a buck instead of answering the person's question. By the way, this description does say "safe sanitizing system" does it not?? We are on the topic of Ecopur and Masters Deceptive way of misleading consumers into believing a nonconforming "EPA" standard as a sanitizer when in fact you can buy a pleatco with the same title for a fraction of the price. Go to your local pool or spa store for a quote on a pleatco. You can even cross reference a Unicel from the pleatco book but I am not sure they offer a similar product.
  11. Well put. Just save your money and but a pleatco.
  12. The manufacturer Pleatco for filter cartriges makes the eco and filter cartridge in one for a fraction of the price. Look for a pleatco dealer and they will save you alot of money. FYI...The inner filters Pleatco makes are made with a Microban paper material. While Microban does inhibit the growth of bacteria, it is not even close to the same thing as the Eco Pur filter. Bottom line... you will spend a lot more on chemicals if you use the pleatco filter vs the OEM. Feel free to email me at leisureworks@gmail.com if you are interested in purchasing some reasonably priced Eco Pur filters. Kreg Yeah PLEATCO is the way to go because the ecopur is within the filter itself for only a fraction of the price. PCS40 is the most common Master/Pleatco #. What model do you have? Please don't mislead people so you can profit from it. Any blue color filter is made with microban only, including the pleatco ones, and is NOT EVEN CLOSE to the same thing as an Eco Pur cartridge. Microban is not a sanitizer, and Eco Pur is. Plus, the OEM are made with two separate filters because their lifespans are different. Inner filter every 6 months, outer filter every year to two years. Save some money and but yourself a pleatco to change out every year.

  14. Well I'm from Upstat NY as well (Utica in my case) so I certainly know what your weather is like and I would give serious thought to how well the spa is insulated. I don't think a Hydrospa would be the best choice for an Ustate NY winter, IMO. I don't know much about Hydropool but I've seen a couple professionals have positive responses who sold for or against them. I don't know Clearwater too well either but the past few days there have been a few posts on them so you can search on that pretty easily but it seems like mixed reviews. Arctic and Beachcomber would be good choices if in your area along with Marquis, Hot Spring, Caldera, D1, Jacuzzi and Sundance IMO. Hay don't forget about the Coleman Spa with Thermolock and steel frame. Coleman makes a great spa but the covers aren't standard @ 5". You can get a 470 series or 480 series between 6-8k dollars
  15. That model has the most jets per surface area that Coleman offers. 27 jets, 1 5hp pump, 100% filtration, Lifetime steel frame, thermolock insulation and is very "intimate". That is a really nice tub and is selling for a good price. That retails $5,700 and I'm in NY. Are you getting the lifter and steps?
  16. It is also bad to have too much stabalizer in your water because then the chlorine is locked. The water may demanding the chlorine but when your CA level is above 80-100ppm especially in a pool the chlorine will not release and your PH's become alot more volitile
  17. Can you use a chemical called X-change made by robarb to switch the water chemistry to chlorine w/o having to empty a pool or spa?
  18. I can fax you all the specs if you call me or email me brandon_ruland@hotmail.com
  19. Yeah try www.pooltechinc.net and they have all types of filters and chemicals in stock. Call for availability if you don't see it on the webstore
  20. Most Maax spas do have the gavulnized steel, and the blue foam over just the pipes. Looks like they gave you a cheapo model of there's that you didn't even sign for. As for the 5hp it is actually 4.8bhp which is breaking horse power and the constant horsepower is 2.5hp. All tub manufacturers give the breaking HP because the number is higher. Why did you get the wood frame and not the steel?
  21. Sounds really stupid and you probably tried it but here goes: How old is your Cartridge filter? Take it out and see if the tub heats. In 1986 4 out of 5 tubs were leakers with a 1st time fill. There was alot of problems with the heaters because the primary means of sanitizing was Bromide and people neglected the PH. If the heater is getting voltage and is still not heating it could be a defective heater. It is hard to diagnose a problem when I am not there. Also alot of the times it can be a defective board like a loose sodder connection or whatever. I know that year it was all anolog unless the topside and board were upgraded. I bet it is a problem with the board. If that is the problem you should upgrade your spa pack so that it is digital and electronic. good luck
  22. Yeah Artic is a great manufacturer. I thought Artic was started in Europe or UK or something. I think they have been around a little over 10 years.
  23. It is a 4kw heater for that year. Also to answer your question spa-tech we were going to take the Jacuzzi line but Coleman cleaned up there act this year and lead times are better than ever. No need to share floor space.
