  1. You'll hear about the new models about the same time they announce a price increase. If you see what you like go for it. I doubt they'll be adding anything major that will cause you to regret that you didn't wait. The question is what else could be added to these spa today to make them better tommorow?
  2. Make sure you get a seating depth chart if you plan to come from underneath the spa w/ the conduit. Your Hot tub dealer should have one for your particular model.
  3. How long is that child going to keep the strap on? Is he or she going to keep it on? And luckily it is a spa
  4. Great Idea! Should the new beams be placed towards the floor or more towards the top?
  5. Replace the heater element or better yet how old is your cartridge filter???? You may have a FLO problem. Take your filter out of the spa and now see if it heats!
  6. Yes, but it does put restriction on the valve itself after a while. Your probably better off turning the valves with the pump not running or on low speed.
  7. the spacing on the joist in 12" on center and the lumber on the deck surface is deck cedar I think (but I know its not pressure treated) Thanks! Your Deck is rated for over 2 1/2 tons on that particular area Wait so 2.5 tons is like 5000 lbs right? So does that mean the entire tub filled weight has to be 5000 lbs or less, or what would the lb per square footage be? Because the Pelican Bay for instance is 5100 lbs filled weight, so adding people would be over that, can my deck not hold that? It will support it but there may be settlement in that particular area of the deck in the later years. I wouldn't worry about it as it will definately support your unit filled with people in it.
  8. You don't necessarily need Thermospas to come out - any reputable hot tub repair person should be able to help you. A dealer rep may be more interested in selling you a new spa than in helping you fix the old one. Yeah with that in mind I do recommend a thermo rep to access what's going on. Pay the whatever fee to see what it would cost to fix. If not feasable for you than go tub selling, dumping or buying.
  9. That is a very good alarm but keep in mind if you live in new york it doesn't beat ASTM requirments. Every new pool built in NY requires an alarm that meets these requirments.
  10. I sealed each joint with appropriate PVC sealant/epoxy, but enough hot/cold wet/dry cycles along with condensation is a recipe for some water getting in sooner or later. Since I have a tiny 12v pump from my car's water injection system, and like fiddling with gadgets, I figured I might put it to use. Remember seeing something about low voltage wiring when I was thumbing through the NEC, but I didn't remember what it was. Anyone else have warnings, suggestions, or recommendations for keeping water out, and dealing with it when it gets in anyway? You can try a two part epoxy sealer by JB Weld. Pool putty is good too (stuff you use to patch gunite pools with or great for light niches).
  11. Figure a rebuild costs 75-90 depending on what pump. You have nothing to lose with a two year warranty other than the labor doing so. In some cases the windings are shot and you would need a new pump anyway. Sometimes if the pump is humming it could be just a capacitor (simple part on pump and cheap). A new pump probably in around the $350 range depending on the voltage, hp, and speed of the pump. How deep are your pockets?
  12. Special needs or not, teaching is a very important part of it. Even if you do strap it, as you already know parenting goes on forever. And the most important years of it are from 3 untill 20 After that if you haven't done a good job you'll either get lucky or find out how you did when you bail them out of jail...LOL I've never made any for anyone but I would think some kind of clasp mechinism that will hold a strap (preferable flat 1-2" nylon) and will except a lock. Hardware store good idea, see what they have first. The back side can be permanently afixed, no lock. "Essentials" makes a cover strap (weak straps). SUNSTAR makes very nice straps and are very solid with cushioning for the parts that strap over the edge of the cover. Generally they are wind straps, however most people use them to secure the tub even better from children.

  14. No 6 gauge I think should be standard. 2 positives, 1 ground, 1 neutrel. 4 wire
  15. Not much change in next years models for most manufacturers. I think for the up coming years the spa companies will try to perfect what they have and mabye switch pump styles or add a jet or two.
  16. Wow.......since when did advertising by companys trying to sell stuff become self destructing? hahah that is funny
  17. It could be a pump overheating causing the breaker to trip when you hit desired temperature. It could be the circuit board when the heater sends the signal to it and shuts it down. Try disconnecting one of the pumps when it is 1 degree away from the setting and continue to run the tub with the other pump if you have another one till it heats up to setting or desired temperature and see if it shuts down. Try it with both pumps. This can be time consuming and can be quicker if you just start replacing parts but costly and taking chances. If you are using bromide just continue monitoring your PH on a daily or weekly basis. 90 percent of the time in this situation it is simply the circuit board. Keep us updated. Thanks Best Regards, Brulan1
  18. My spa only goes to 104 degrees. When its -Zero outside it can spike to 105 i can stay in for an hour or so when its cold out. John 104 degrees It's a NICE AHHH! Thatsa my girlfriend. I soak in her every night ahhh!
  19. Nice setup! You should get a metal remover, chlorine shock with a Natures 2 or frog system or bromine, a non-chlorine shock, and test strips with a start up chemical kit. When you fill up the spa do it through the filter cartridge (fill the lines first) so the pump can catch a prime and you don't get air lock. Congrats on your new tub and many years of happiness with it. Best Regards, Brul
  20. And better yet it will be serviced yay Also, now you know what the Caldera is really worth!
  21. Probably the same quality as a sundance dealer. They need to move more units to keep sundance going. Once again no service or extra's but is a wide enough spread to cover service charges in the future. Who else is going to enable a return on such a big item? Simple, you don't like the spa you buy a different one. If the spa breaks, bring it back! lol
  22. If you put the legend next to the sundance, people would use it for a trash can. If you put both tubs together I would try both and probably enjoy both. All tubs for that matter.
  23. Does that Jet deliver curbside?
  24. They deliver with the quickness if you live in the NorthEast. Generally they have a strong dealer network and short lead times for repairs if needed. They are completely full foam to the outer skirt. That jet sequencer is pretty neat. They are now talking about warranting their tubs for the full 5 years rather than 1 yr. than pro-rated. Are you looking for a Luxury spa line or the adirondack series? Where are you from?
  25. KEYS BACKYARD DOES NOT HAVE FULL FOAM INSULATION! Heat locking tape along some portions of the inside panel with NO FOAM! My neighbor ken's backyard keys tub has practically no insulation at all.
