  1. Roger, It filters with the large jet pump and has no circulation pump. Since my last post I made an adjustment to the pressure switch and the "flo" message went away and it appeared to work fine then I went back after an hour to see if it was beginnig to warm up and I had a new diagnostic of "oh" which means overheat according to my manual. I shut down power let it cool off for an hour or so then removed the filters and tried again, at that point it went back to the "flo" message. any other possibilities? thanks
  2. These filters are brand new! I just bought the tub and put two new filters in it. I know there was some "crud" in the lines but would this be enough to foul up the new filters that fast? I just put water in it on Sunday and ran the jets a little sunday and a little bit on monday of this week. This confuses me!
  3. Hi everyone, I am a newbie that just got my spa filled with water after fixing a leak and installing two new pumps and a new heating element. When I first powered on I had a diagnostic of FLO. I then did the research and found it must be the pressure switch so I replaced that as well. Now when I power on it reads "COOL" then "FlO" then current temp. I left on for several hours and then overnight to the next morning with no temperature rise. I have a Balboa controller (M-2) system I believe. It is on a catalina spa. I have made sure all valves are open and cleaned the new filters just to be sure and even ran with filters out and still received the "FLO" message. All jets are working well and when both pumps are on high speed the "flo" diagnostic goes away. When the low speed is put back on the "flo" diagnostic comes back. What would my next step be? could it be another sensor? thank you justin
  4. Ken, Thanks for all the info. you answered all my questions.
  5. My 15 feet is total run. Of the 15 feet approx 10 would be inside the house basement rafters then the gfci box right on the house... then 5 fee of liquid tight. Is this clearer...would it work that way?
  6. Thanks kengorman that is helpful. As far as his calculations I do know that he used the horsepower listed on the motor and not the amps. His calculation was like this 4.5hp x 746=3357 (pump1) 4.5hp X 746= 3357(pump2) Heater =5500 Total =12214/220volts=55amps The part I am unclear on is do the pumps only work on low speed when the heat is on or could they potentiall all be on at the same time? Also If I am understanding this correctly I would be better off taking back the 60amp gfci box and getting a 50 amp box instead of putting a 60amp breaker at the main. Also I forgot to mention when he first did the calculations I was planning on a further run of wire (80feet) instead of 15 now. If you have the correct formula I would be interested in that!!! thanks for helping me out Deepchillie... I am not sure what you are talking about...I plan on using the "flexible liquid tight" type of conduit from the box to the tub... Is this incorrect...what is rubberised tek cable?
  7. I am still confused as to the wire gauge I need. My owners manual says #6 wire with 50 amp dedicated service. I have two 4.5hp motors (12.0/3.5 amps) and the manual says the heater "will provide approx 5500 watts of heat when the pump is in low or high speed and the thermostat is calling for heat". My total run is approx 15 feet from main panel to gfci box which is 5 feet from tub. A licensed electrician will be doing all the final hook ups. Is 50amp enough or do I need 60? if so which wire size?(the reason I ask is my electrician did a formula which calculated the equipment at 55 amp) Also If the main house breaker is determined to be 50amp, can the GFCI breaker be a 60 amp? Thanks in advance, Brandan
  8. My second post and zero replies???
  9. I noticed many rebuilt motors come with 2 year warranties and the new motors sometimes only have 1 year warranty, is there a reason? Does anyone have any advice on which would be better? I need two new 4.5 hp motors and wonder what to purchase? Thanks
  10. I just found out there was an attachment to the sales brochure that state the tubs now come standard with 4.5 hp motors. As for the controller it is by Balboa and appears to look in good shape but am still curious if there is a way for my dealer to "test" this before I hook up the new motors and put everything back together?
  11. I have a 1998 Catalina Belair. I need new motors. The original sales brochure says this model uses two 3hp motors. When I bought this tub used the tub had two 4.5hp motors. Any suggestions on what I should replace with? Also would I be better off getting a retro fit kit (control box also) or just the new motors. I ask because I don't have electricity hooked up yet and it appears slightly cheaper to get the entire kit instead of parts individually. The tub and surround are in good shape. This is my first tub and appreciate your help
