  1. I can't speak for long term but I installed my costco hydrospa a few weeks ago and except for a bad connection on a speaker wire it has been running PERFECTLY. We have used it almost every night. It's the Legend 7 person spa with radio and lights. $4895 I'll post any problems that might pop up
  2. Thanks for the welcome, And I'll give my review today, or in a few months, or never. If i have something to add, GOOD or BAD, I will. To leave my real time opinions unheard wouldn't very well help anybody looking for advice on a costco tub purchase would it? I also think a record of my experiences WITH a costco Hydrospa purchase would be sorta Interesting from day 1 to day 2000 to any other Potential buyer...THATS what i was looking for when i came to this forum! Thank You
  3. Thanks for the offer of help.. I have been very busy setting up my new spa,, from the near death unloading, to the jaw dropping beauty of the LED lighting... I haven't got to try it out yet but in 10 minutes im going for a trial run.. i have it up to 98 deg. so far. ABOUT the cover lifter that was missing: Costco we're very nice but after 20 minutes on the phone they started leaning to the "we don't know where your cover lifter is and we are not sure if it comes with it any more." at first they told me "sorry and I was welcome to return the spa if not happy" but one guy was nice enough to contact HYDROSPA for me. 2 hours later a guy called from Hydrospa and it was "Sorry for the mix up and he would have my cover lifter in the mail ASAP and i should have it in a few days. no questions asked. My spa has been running for 24 hours so far and SO FAR SO GOOD (i probably just jinxed it). I have taken a few pics and i am going to try to post them. Ionly got a few of me and 3 of my buddies removing the 1000+ lb monster off a little trailer standing upright. PS i wasn't going to say anything but i did have a speaker not working but after removing one of the panels and reaching behind the radio it started working.. i'll keep you posted if it acts up again OK If im not back in an hour then you can have my spa.... Buy the way it hasn't taken 24 hours to get to 98 deg. i left at 95 over night and just turned it up a lil bit ago
  4. Well i've read every post on this forum.... 80% against 15% for (and 5% could care less) the costco legend tub.... I tried to find something local from a dealer and found many GREAT spas, But could not get enough money up to purchase.. I almost gave up and bought a smaller than needed spa.(I had sold an eleven year old LiesureBay 3 person tub for a more seating spa)...I even came close to dropping the whole thing. The Legend might not be the best spa or the most dependable. it might have lousy service and a little higher elec. bill (i'll let you know how much)BUT it's by far THE MOST spa for the money I Could spare... I'm a simple plumber man and i have had to service my own cars, plumbing, wife, and electrical needs (maybe not in that order) for my whole life....many times i've had to settle for what i could get or NOT get at all. as far as the legend I'ts the nicest setteling i've ever had to do...I'm not bragging or griping yet, but i WILL do one or the other in months to come... SO FAR, GOOD= The Costco folks we're very helpful and friendly and i bought some nice steaks. BAD= I got the spa home tonight to find they shorted me one box, the cover lifter. I'll call tomorrow to see what they want to do about it...... Alright thats it, Bash away! ps. thanx for all the info either way
  5. Thanks for the info , i just got home with mine 9:30 pm.. it will take a day or two to set up but ill follow your advice.....
  6. how did you find this new spa company? also how do you know they sell them at costco? I haven't seen them there or online.. thanx
  7. how far are you running the wire? are you installing a gfi disconnect within 15 feet of spa?
  8. sorry i don't have any info on your foam problem, but it sure moves me more in the direction of a tub without full foam. I Hope someone here can give you some good advice. it seems like there would be a chance of hitting another pipe or something if not careful.. GoodLuck and please let us know how it comes out....
  9. thanks... i just came from my attic and was able to reroute a few things... just save about 20 ft of wire (the shorter the better) still have the box to install in sreened room ,, is that a light at the end of the tunnel?
  10. I'M no electrician, but if your spa says use 60 amp, i don't think you should drop it to 50.. I just happened to be at Lowes tonight and i just picked up a 60amp breaker for my house panel and a 60 amp GFI outdoor spa panel box for my back screend in room. The breaker was $7.47 and the spa box with a 60 amp GFI was $94.00 i was going to get the 6 awg wire from there also but it was $2.79 a ft. so i picked it up from a electric contractor supplier for $1.47 ft. .. 100 hundred feet (big savings)....also you shouldn't need 4 awg. 100 feet with 6 awg and a 60 amp breaker has 2.5% voltage drop... well within the 5% drop max and still in the 3% drop max some say to use...the quote ["For most 120/240V systems using cables of adequate ampacity voltage drop is not a concern unless cable lengths are well over a hundred feet."] is from: http://nooutage.com/vdrop.htm anyway this is all just my opinion but I am setting mine up this way.... please check with your local code dept. hope this helped a bit....
  11. hey i didn't get to where i'm at today by saving money(crap) as for my wife she is good at bouncing it around....(ohh your talking about credit cards...).
  12. wow that is a very nice looking spa that Chet has, what brand is that? i also like your legend spa and your back yard setup.. i'm setting up my back sreened in room now. we are thinking of getting the legend. I can bearly afford it but we need something the whole family can use.... i will try to post a pic of the location Before and After... Heres mine. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/Tma...owedInTub-1.jpg OOps covered in snow, heres another. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/Tma...Backofhouse.jpg Oh my goodness... i'm glad i don't have to worry about snow, that seems like it would effect the energy use....i love your deck tho man i messed that post up
  13. is there a place in this forum that has posters pictures? i would love to see other spas and setups
  14. I have been to every spa dealer in 3 towns around,,, I can't bring myself to wet test a spa yet... call it embarrasement or call it courtesy to others ...i haven't even had one dealer offer..maybe they forgot to ask... maybe it's because i'm 300 lbs (mostly muscle....Yeh right) Funny thing is that my wife has been begged and pleaded to "wet test" eveything from spas to bathroom sinks......maybe she looks like she needs to wet test something (i doubt it has anything to do with her being 10 years younger then me and 98 lbs ...naaah couldn't be) but we are looking at the legend.... we liked a local coleman dealer alot but i only have around 4 or 5$ to spend. i don't have that really, TGfCC (thank God for credit cards...
  15. sorry i was just trying to figure out why some people say your tub cost more to run.. if its a insulation problem could it be fixed? or are they saying it has to do with heater, pump, or programing I was trying to find a spa for under or around 5k . i am a plumber by trade so im not worried about leaks as much as cost of operation and maybe eletronic problems
  16. is there a way to add insulation or are you beating a dead horse?
  17. is insulation in a spa still as important in florida as elswhere? mine will be in a screened in room next to house... it doesnt drop below 50 very often........
  18. sorry to jump in the middle here... But i was thinking of buying the infinity sun peak spa sold at costco.com, and was kinda wondering what anyone thought about infinity brand? it got a 10 out of 10 on a web site called poolandsparatings.com thank you for any input
  19. thanks i'm heading to sam's to see what they have......
  20. I am trying to find a good spa around 4,000 to 5,000.. i found the infinity sun peak spa online at costco.com but after reading a few post im not sure now..... it's $3995 including shipping.. i like the price but i don't want my electric bill to crazy... I just sold my 3 person liesure bay spa for 600$ it was 11 years old and ran perfect but was looking kinda dated a couple jets had came apart and would trip the breaker when i would forget to sut off jets.... anywaaaays. thanks for any info
