  1. Well, it works ok with two people but i just dont trust it, unless i am drinking water, one accident and i will be draining the tub. Too far away from my deep seat anyway. I like to keep my drink resting just outside the tub when not in use Thanks Dave I was about to order one.we are the only ones who use the spa and i keep my drink there by the filter. I will look into it before i order one. Hows the family and the crown doing?? 104
  2. I hope the question is related to "night time" tubing. Everytime at night we use the lights.
  3. Dave You dont like the drink holder on your crown?? If you have two people in it it will not work?? Thaks 104
  4. I cannot fathom the idea of having to tell a customer that I need to take your spa to the shop for a week or two There is a member that had to wait up to a year for Arctic to see that they sold them a spa with a Warped shell I guess the steam coming out the side of the cover was not enough for arctic's concern. they got concerned when it got posted
  5. Nothing??? Sorry, I don't get on here to write every day. I originally got a bottle of "Aquacheck" test strips from Infinity that test for Biguanide, total alkalinity, and pH. I used these, along with some "Sea Klear Spa" pH increaser and pH reducer to maintain what I thought was a balanced pH level. I had been told that since I had an ozone-ator and a mineral infuser, I wouldn't need any other sanitizer besides a "non-chlorine shock" (which didn't do any good). As I say, the water did not stay clean and I found it necessary to empty and re-fill the tub about every week. After some more reading and considering, I decided to look for some form of chlorine sanitizer which I found at a nearby hardware store. They carried hth brand "Chlorinating Sanitizer" which contains 47.6% Calcium Hypochlorite. While I was at the store, I also purchased an hth test kit which uses a little bottle of "OTO" drops to test for chlorine (or bromine). The kit also included a little bottle of "Phenol Red" to test for pH. I discovered, as I said, that the pH readings with the drops did not agree with the strips and I eventually decided that the strips were wrong. Adding a tablespoon or two of the Chlorinating Sanitizer after using the tub at the end of the day -- usually preceded by a pH check and balance, if necessary -- seems to be doing the trick. I haven't had to empty the tub for the past month and a half and it appears to be nice and clean! What is "DiChlor"? Any other suggestions? Thanks. Thanks. Dichlor Chlorine.
  6. In response to "104 Degrees": Well, like I say, the literature on spa chemistry seems surprisingly inconsistent and contradictory. Most information that is readily available is trying to sell one particular brand or another and therefore tends to indicate the need for all sorts of things that don't really appear to be necessary. I had gleaned from all this at first that having the ozone-ator along with a mineral infuser (the "Nature 2 purifier" in our case) meant that I didn't have to use any other sanitizer -- that I just had to maintain a proper pH level. I soon found that was not correct. I was emptying and re-filling the tub about every week! One problem I had was that the pH test strips were not giving me accurate readings! I purchased another tester that uses drops of dye solution and found that it gave me different results -- when the strips told me the pH was low, the drops indicated it was high! By trial-and-error, I decided the drops were more accurate and that I had been adjusting the pH way too high by believing the strips. Further reading also began to make it apparent that the claim that the Nature 2 stick and the ozone-ator were sufficient to maintain water purity by themselves was not correct -- that some other purifier was needed. I finally broke down and bought some chlorinating powder and have found that by throwing in a tablespoon or two every day or two to bring the chlorine level up to only about .5 or 1 part per million makes all the difference. The water stays clear and clean and there is virtually no odor or dis-comfort. I also run the filtration cycle more when we're using the tub more. When left on its own, the filter runs four hours a day, but a simple push of the button starts another two-hour cycle if needed. Thank you. What test kit did you get? Where did you get the Chlorine? Why is it different then "Dichlor" that most use? Congratulations On your spa. May your water be at the set temp everytime you soak 104
  7. it sounds like people are not interested in a spa when they read about the "itch" . how do you maintain your spa?
  8. Is this the Yellow Stick you put in the Filter?
  9. Hillbilly How much do you use in a 300 gallon tub of the MPS after you get out? how much of the Dichlor will you shock with once a week in the same tub? What do you do when you dump your tub and refill it?? When you dump your tub and refill, balance the water, install new cartridge and we use 1.5 tablespoons for 250 gallons, apx 3/4 of an ounce, so 1 3/4 tablespoons for a 300 gallon tub, just shy of an ounce. Thank you Hillbilly. Is this MPS or Dichlor?
  10. Thanks so much for the information Tiny Bubbles you sure put my mind at ease. Last night (Tuesday) my hubbie and I jumped in for 30 minutes and I decided not to dose this time with the MPS. Having superdosed with the dichlor on Sunday (5 tbsps) then dosing again Monday with 2 tbsps MPS before we hopped in for 40 minutes or so. I figured that we could go without MPS last night. This morning the spas water is crystal clear even my husband remarked on how clear the water was. Tonight I'll be sure to shock it with 2 tbsps MPS just to be sure nothings in there before we get in. Another quick question, if you don't mind. The PH was reading high this morning, could not using the MPS have caused that increase or could the rain last night have anything to do with it? My dealer told me I shouldn't have a problem with high PH and only gave me PH increaser. I ran the jets a little bit and tested it again and the PH seems to have dropped back to the higher safty zone. Just wondering if its anything I did or didn't do that might have caused this PH spike. I'll test it again in a few hours. Thanks for taking the time to respond so quickly. Spa Mom LaLa There are many factors that could have caused the PH spike. Risidual soaps are also common for this, if it is already starting to come down, you should be fine. I have many customers that use Nature 2 (same thing as your mineral cart) and love it. They shock after each use with MPS and with chlorine weekly. it allows them to have a tub with as close to chlorine/bromine free as possible without the issues of Baqa. No one has been sick, itchy etc. The only issue we have seen is after heavy use or having friends over it may cloud up and an extra dose of di-chlor may be needed to help. As far as cost, this mineral cartridge has silver and copper in them (what sanitizes the water) and we know what the costs of those are. The dealer is probley not ripping you off. SOME of us do not mark up our products huge, we want to keep you coming in and maintaining your tub properly so you will come back and suggest us to others. Sounds like you are doing fine. Enjoy your tub, don't make it a hair raising chore! 11. Bacteria free?, probably not. Clean?, well that depends on what you mean by "clean". Will pseudomonas grow? Most likely if it gets introduced into the tub. Waterbear Do you think i could keep my CYA down and use dichlor(only) if i drain & Refill a Quarter of the tub Starting the second month and doing it the third month also??. I do belive in dumping the tub at the end of three months.Sorry to hear about Richard.
  12. No big Deal. When are you getting your spa? I know what its like to wait for it.
  13. I asked because nobody told this person to try and drain the spa with a vacume to winterize it till it can looked at. I also might belive theres something more to the story .
  14. What would they do if its that new "full foam" Costco spa? i will agree that its too long of a wait. the poster is almost"to nice" to have this problem and wait a week for someone to come out?
  15. I do belive now that my problem is the scent and the Shock. I started to icth last night. I will have more soon.I'm going to have my CYA tested at the end of the month.
  16. It did for me. I said it in a post here somewhere awhile ago.
  17. Do you have a Costco Near you? Calspa is going to sell threw them. its a full foam spa with a thicker cover..hottuboc.com
  18. I didn't add anything to raise my alkalinity. I did add product to lower it at the suggestion that it could help my high ph problems. Wireman, when you had your high ph and had to add so much ph down, what were you using as your sanitizer? 104, have you managed to get your ph down and keep it down while using bleach? I did not get to the bleach.I dumped my tub Jan 1st and have been using the dichlor.I have been keeping up to 5 or a little less. it will be in the threes the next morning. So far so good.I do belive alot of my problems was with the scent. it must have soap in it that made my rash worse. I just added for the first time Wendsday a table spoon of shock. I went in this morning with no problems so far.I also have been using cream after i shower and its been helping.i do use a once of spa brite each week. I will get back to you on this at the end of the month or sooner if something develops. 104 degrees
