  1. So what is the biggest difference between ozonators? I've heard CD is the way to go but have checked into Marquis and they offer a "solid state" ozonator made by Balboa industries. Is life expectancy the biggest issue, or is it geared in terms of performance somehow? Any insight is appreciated.
  2. If money is not the issue and great therapy and stunning looks are, I would recomend looking into the D1 Dupree Bay.
  3. Check with your local electrical inspector, some areas require that the disconnect be located a certain distance from the spa and not more than so far, and some require they be within line of sight. Our area requirements are at least 5 feet from the tub and not more than 15 feet in line of sight, meaning it cant be around the corner or on the back side of a post or fence or in the garage.
  4. Actually, both D1 and Marquis have "contact chambers" for their ozone, as well as producing zero off-gas. There are, however tubs of lesser quality than the sundance, marquis, hot springs, and d1 which actually inject ozone into the tubs main water body producing that sweet smell of ozone. It won't really harm a human in the doses it disperses at, however, it won't be an effective sanitation method either.
  5. I miss Jim already... Now who will make us laugh, or cry, or throw up all over our keyboards? Come back Jim the Jim!
  6. Nope, but I've just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to...nevermind, that was pretty bad. I'm sorry and I'll go now.
  7. I have a tremendous knowledge of wood. Including how to cut it AND how to paste it!
  8. Wondering if anyone has encountered or heard of the pop-up TV's having issues? (Especially in the bitter cold north.) Any preventative measures on maintenance and what Spa Manufacturer has the best warranty on their televisions? Thanks for the insight.
  9. Western Red Cedar and California Redwood are from the same genus and have many similarities. The main difference is that Western Red Cedar has much greater structural integrity for two basic reasons. First, Western Red Cedar has far greater flexural toughness (able to flex without shattering) than California Redwood. For example, hydro electricity poles are made of Western Red Cedar not California Redwood because vibrations may cause California Redwood to crack. Second, California Redwood has a higher density than Western Red Cedar and contains more oils. The effect of this is that California Redwood is more difficult to glue, does not retain stain very well, and is easier to split when screws are used to fasten pieces together. I've also heard something to the effect of redwood having a naturally occuring enzyme of somesort which may have an adverse effect in cold weather. Hope this helps doc. -Out
  10. Why is everyone so mean to Jim the Jim? What has he ever done to you guys? I think he is a kind, good natured human being who will take the short end of the stick if it comes to it. After all, look at his picture and tell me he's not the most honest looking guy you could buy a hot tub from. Here's to you hot tub selling Jim. Sell your Havens and grab a cold one.
  11. As to the ThermoSpa warranty, it is NOT a true solidified warranty as it is PRO-Rated. You'll end up with about 1 year full coverage on parts, however, labor will run you at least $100.00 per hour. Take a close look at who you buy from in regards to servicing as this is just as, if not more, important than your warranty.
  12. That price is absolutely unbeatable on a Reward! Take advantage quickly as I've heard Marquis are going to jump drastically higher in price.
  13. I've looked at Coleman, Marquis, and Sundance spas. All of which have differences in insulation. The most extreme being the Coleman as it is not full foamed. I take it this is the thermally sealed tub you're speaking of. What other manufacturers utilizing the warm air barrier method and which is best?
  14. So what is really the best route to take in selecting a hot tub which is going to be used in a frigid environment for about 1/2 of the year? I've been pulled in to many directions. Someone be honest and try not to sell me.
  15. The Fast Flo heater is simply a brilliant concept! In my humble opinion there is not a better heating system on the market. I don't beleive that the fast flo heater is available with any other spa models, and even if it were, it would not hold a candle to D1's patented Ultra Pure Water Managment system in regards to both performance and efficiency.
