  1. We are just about complete with the install of a inground pool. We are going with a Pentair IntelliFlo VS-3050 variable speed programmable pump. My area in Florida is requiring all new pool pumps to be variable speed. My understanding is there will be a significant electrical savings and its Very Quite. They have another similar pump that measures flow of the water.
  2. Is anyone award of a Biodegradable DE Powder? Thanks
  3. I just put in a 18x30' Pool with spa. This is a courtyard home. The access 48" thru a walk through gate. We had a shuttle done with a mini bobcat and a similar machine with a long scoop to shuttle the dirt into a dumpster. Total dig took about 4 days. The walkway to shuttle the soil out is 50' long. I know Home Depot rents one of these mini Bobcats however they got it elsewhere. If you want more information please let me know.
  4. Thank you for your input. Our town does not have any laws regarding pool water. I found a DE filter by Starite-Pentair PLD70 DE that has a low profile (space is limited) and cleaning is done similar to a cartridge, actually one can convert it to a cartridge. I am also going to use a paper product which is biodegradable unlike normal DE material.
  5. Our pool is nearing completion yaa. On the contract I requested a DE Filter, however he is pushing a Cartridge Starite 125. My understanding is a DE is twice the cost as cartridge and I would not get a credit for the difference. Are there any other brands you recomend? I will be using a varible speed pump with this 13 x 27 Rectangle pool. Thank you,.
  6. Does Anyone recommend a sealing product for exterior travertine? We are having travertine tiles installed on our pool deck and would like to seal it with a quality product. The tiles are tumbled honed but not filled. Most sealers from Home Depot and Lowes are for concrete or interior floors. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks
  7. How Long should the cement cure before mortoring the travertine coping and waterline Tile to the gunite pool? Thank you.
  8. The Shallow end of the pool where the steps are is 3 1/2' deep and there are three steps. How High should the steps be. Currently from the Deck height after the coping is installed the first Step down is 9" with a 11 1/2" Run Step 2 is 12" Down with a 12 1/2" Run Step 3 is 11" Down with a 12 to 12 1/2" Run. I want to be reasonable. He said he can add cement to raise the height to about 10 1/2" per step. Would this still be to high? The other option is to install another step which I would rather not do because it would enter the swimming lane.
  9. Our Pool was just poured and I noticed the steps into the shallow end are to high and steep. The pool plaster was not yet applied. The steps go out 4 feet into 3.5' of water. 1 step is 13" high and another is 10" high, 12", etc. What should I tell the pool installer? How can this be correct? Thank you.
  10. Hi, Gunite was just sprayed 1 week ago. How soon can the Travertine coping and pool tile be mortared to the cement? Also, should I wet down the cement twice daily? Thanks
