We've been enjoying the heck out of our new 480 - trouble free thus far and have finally gotten the 'economy' mode tailored to when we sit in the tub the most- saving us a bit on electricity vs standard mode.

Wired, warming and GFCI test passed. Sadly I'm leaving tomorrow and won't be back until Friday so the first soak will have to wait until then.

Wow, a little pricey but looks to be just what the doctor ordered as far as keeping snow and ice away from where you're getting in and out of the tub.

We never had too much buildup- but we made sure the rug we had down got tossed on top the hot tub cover during sunny days to melt down (black rug, sunny day, no more ice) Also, if you drop some hot water from the tub on it, it scrapes off the deck easily.

Anyone have any info on the in house remote control/monitor option for the Maax tubs? Ours didn't come with it, and I'd like to add it in the future but the dealer says they can't sell it as an add on (!?) factory installed only, which I do not believe.

Thanks, several on this forum look down on them and maybe I just haven't experienced a good tub, but even with the Coleman we had it was bullet proof- We moved it twice with no issue to the tub, had great experience (the original we had is still running at my Dad's house). Really didn't cost much to heat even up here in the arctic land of SD. I sat in others, lots of others, and around the $10k all in mark nothing else was comfortable to myself (6 foot 2 230) and my wife (5 foot 3). We both love the comfort collars- why no one else has done those floors me: I hate having to strain my neck to just to rest my head on a headrest. We also went 480 because she didn't love the lounger in a wet test, and I didn't fit in any we tried and we like having the ability to stick a few people in with us. Tried to make a deal on the 470 to save a couple bucks but the difference ended up being $500- worth the upgrade to me. I got the same color interior as our 2004 tub, but the darker exterior, as it will match the feel better. I have 4 weeks to finish my deck now I guess! I will post pictures when it arrives.

Guess I might as well add we did purchase a new 480.

Thanks for the offer James didn't see this until now. After getting everything in the equipment bay to not leak there is still a leak in the foot jets as suspected. Based on the condition of the rest of the tub (not as many jets as we'd like) we're going to sell this one to try to get the $200 I have into it back out and just buy a new one.

I'll toss my opinion in. I owned a Coleman 480 (which is now sold by Maxx as the 480 or the 481 you're looking at) I never had any issues with the tub and didn't find it particularly expensive to keep warm. Mine had ozone but no stereo or other features. From 2004 to 2012 we replaced the heater and had to tighten the connections to the pumps each year if we drained it over the summer. One feature we really really liked is the comfort collar neck cushions- can't get them on other tubs. I was re-habbing a sundance after getting rid of the 480 but we are now just looking at buying new and the 480 is on our short list.

Next leak ID'd as the PVC connecting the hose to the drain port. Starting to seriously doubt that the foot jets have any hope of being not shattered but so far water level at the base of the seats is holding once drain was plugged.

Hope I don't land in that, I just got parts for the two big pumps, if you find parts and what not post them up, and post up some pictures of the underside dug out!

parts finally ordered, getting married put this on hold. Snagged both end units and a new flow switch. Hopefully be leak testing this weekend.

Finally got both pumps out of the tub, just need the volutes and the flow sensor (cracked housing) going to order parts and leak test.

Can I get to them from the top to at least take a look at the jet bodies? "A lot of work" meaning I have to set it on it's side and tear apart the bottom?? I'm going to get these pumps out and get the covers ordered and on and see what I can see for this. The heater in these just runs through the separate recirc pump, yes? Thanks for the suggestions, a little disgruntled that the person who was supposed to winterize this didn't apparently.

appears to be a 2008 Sundance 780 Chelsee. Look slike the $38 front pump housing could work to solve some problems. Thoughts?

Also, does this give anyone enough information to identify what I'm working with tub wise?

Well after selling the reliable Colman 480 series I had the fiance decided she really didn't realize how much she liked the hot tub. Soo... I started looking for a used one since I wasn't keen on spending $12,000 again and selling it for $4000 when she decided that it was too much upkeep. I was surprised by an offer from my future brother in law (he's marrying my future wife's sister) to pick up his hot tub for free since he sold his house and needed it moved. The tub is a sundance 7 footer that I don't know much about. When I got it home I found much to my dismay the 'winterizing' that had been paid for didn't pay off: Now I'm looking for the end of the Volute for both big pumps, and found this: http://www.spaandpoolsource.com/6500-288theramaxfrontpumphousing2025hp.aspx This looks to be exactly what I am looking for for the Emerson T55MWCCE-1208 and T55SWBNC-999 pumps that are in the tub (one two speed, one one speed). Obviously I wont' know if I need impellers or possible an entire wet side until I get the pump out, but I'm hoping not. Any suggestions on things to check/look at? It's a full foam tub so I can't check every connection, but seems like there are a lot of scary places things could go wrong. I will be leak testing this in the garage prior to moving it into the back yard and hooking it up. Also any suggestions on getting the connections off the main pumps? those things are TIGHT! I take special care to make sure I have some fluffy roll-able snow sitting close to the hottub during the winter months... "Polar Bearing" is great fun, and a great intro to hot tubbing for those that dont' do it much. Cheers from another snowy hot tub lover.

That is word for word what he told me my code meant- that the tub couldn't find the GFCI, it's possible he got confused and read the first code he could find with 9 in it. Either way the wiring needs to be fixed, so I'll start there and then move on. The Tub is under warranty until October, so hopefully I'll get it strait before then. Anyway, I'm going to wire it myself- the tub calls for two 30 amp breakers, so I'm running 6/4 to the box outside through dual 60 amps in the panel inside, then a dual 60 GFCI breaker in the box outside, then dual 30's to the tub, and leaving the 8/4 to the tub until I move the tub into its final home after the deck is built, then I'll run 6/4 to the tub so if I get a new one with bigger demands I can just swap the 30 amp breakers in the box for bigger ones.

The electrician is coming back out to take a look, he says he'd never leave a spa like that and says it should have 6/4 to the box outside and 8/4 to the tub because the max draw dictated by the tub is 30amps. He says he's going to fix it, so that'd be nice.
