  1. We use knee high stockings inside our bag. Just slip them over the opening on the Polaris, put the closed end in the bag and snap the bag on. It will snap on over the knee high and hold it on. Filters great and you wont have to replace bags for a quite a while!
  2. My Polaris did the same thing. Make sure the jet at the back of it is in the 11 o'clock position. Mine was doing this because a belt had broken inside.
  3. It looks like you have an Aqua Slide N Dive like I do...I needed the nozzles and the only place I could find them was on the internet...Yes they are expensive. Apparently the slide is discontinued or the company went under. I would think you could by the parts you need from a hardware store; they are fairly common for plastic tubing.
  4. This post brings a question up that i guess I need to ask! Am I supposed to be vacuuming with the basket in place?? I always take the basket out and either connect my vacuum hose directly into the hole in the skimmer or just put the cap on the skimmer with the 90 degree elbow and connect the hose to it. I guess I never thought maybe I am supposed to have the skimmer basket in???
  5. Might be worth a try...I would think they would just sit on the wires above the pool though?...
  6. I have some kind of black birds that keep landing and flying over the pool! They are pooping in and all over around the pool. Driving us insane and making a mess. I've tried an owl, bird repellent, etc to no avail! Anyone have any experience with something elso or advice to keep them away?
  7. I currently have a Pac-Fab Superflow PF-50 sand filter. Its filter area is 2.7 Sq ft. I did read on Troublefreepool that I could add small amounts of DE to my sand filter to help improve the filtering. I think my biggest problem now is that my filter may be undersized so it takes a long time to filter all the particulates out.
  8. I've decided to replace my pool filter. Currently is a sand filter. How do i know what size I need? Is DE or Sand better? I live in a very sandy area with fine sand. Pool is approx. 25,000 gallons. It has to be a side mount valve; I don't have much clearance over the top. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
  9. My pool has a Pac-Fab Superflow PF-50 sand filter on it. Does any know where I can get a manual or any information on it? I want to open it up to see if any of the laterals or piping is cracked or if the sand is channeling, but do'nt want to tear something up; Especially since very few of the parts for this filter are still available!
  10. Thanks! I did not drain the pool yet; it is very slowly clearing up. I have wondered about an issue with my sand filter...I just bought the home. The pool was put in in 1979 and the filter is stainless steel and looks like it is probably original equipment. I talked to the pool store that had been servicing the pool before I bought the house. They said they just replaced the sand last season. I am getting alot of "stuff" on the floor out from the returns. I can vacuum in the evening and the very next morning I will have all that crap on the floor again. We do live in very sandy conditions, but even when the wind hasn't blown I will have stuff back in the pool in the morning. The sand filter looks like it comes apart in half, has a retainer ring around the middle of it. Can I open it up without dumping all the sand out all over and look for a problem? The pool store did tell me that I would eventually need to replace the filter, but to baby it along until it quits. They said it will be like $1200 for a new one and valve since I have low clearance where the filter sets. All hlep and advice is greatly appreciated!!
  11. Thanks! Do I just shut the skimmer off and let it drain from the floor drain through the pump set on drain?
  12. The pool store finally tested my water for phosphates and they said they were extremely high; 2500 or more. They gave me a product to eliminate the phosphates. I also have some clumpy dirty looking debris that is in the shallow end every morning, could be in deep end as well but cant see. I have vacuumed it to wast several times but theres always the same amount back the next morning.
  13. I do need to mention that I do have the Taylor test kit...5 is as high as the FC tests goes and 7.0 is as low as the PH goes. So....FC could be higher and PH could be lower...
  14. Here are my current levels: FC 5.0 TC 5.0 CC 0 PH 7; had dropped since I tested yesterday morning. I just added PH UP to the pool after I tested. Alkalinity 100 ppm CYA 100 ppm Calcium Hardness 200 ppm
  15. The first 3 times I used "Turbo Shock"; was recommended by the pool store to help the situation. The last 2 or 3 times, and from the time I opened the pool i used Breakout 35.
