I purchased a Sundance Cameo last November, & have been extremely pleased with everything about it except my electic bill, which has been running appx. $50/mo. Earlier this year, I purchased a special thermal blanket & cut it to fit all the internal contours of the tub. To date, I haven't seen any drop in my utility bill. I normally have the temp set at 101, & it does get used once, & sometimes twice a day (probably 45-60 min/day). Maybe our relatively heavy usage explains why our bill is so high - I was expecting about $25-30/mo for a 220v hookup.
I'm wondering if another cause for the higher electricity cost might be the factory cover not sealing properly, thereby allowing heat to escape.....I have always tried to center the cover, so the overlap on the cover is about the same all the way around. I have noticed however, that sometimes when I then push down on the cover from the top, the front edge seems to rise then lower a little. In the last week or so, I've been sliding the cover back, so that the front edge of the cover is slightly inside the outer edge of the spa, while the back edge of the cover extends about 3-4" beyond the outer edge of the spa at the back. By doing this, it seems like the cover has much less tendency to rock back & forth. When I try & pull the cover up in front by the cover strap, I get a definite suction feeling, like it's sealing better.
I'd appreciate any comments anyone may have - Thanks for your help!
