  1. I purchased a Sundance Cameo last November, & have been extremely pleased with everything about it except my electic bill, which has been running appx. $50/mo. Earlier this year, I purchased a special thermal blanket & cut it to fit all the internal contours of the tub. To date, I haven't seen any drop in my utility bill. I normally have the temp set at 101, & it does get used once, & sometimes twice a day (probably 45-60 min/day). Maybe our relatively heavy usage explains why our bill is so high - I was expecting about $25-30/mo for a 220v hookup. I'm wondering if another cause for the higher electricity cost might be the factory cover not sealing properly, thereby allowing heat to escape.....I have always tried to center the cover, so the overlap on the cover is about the same all the way around. I have noticed however, that sometimes when I then push down on the cover from the top, the front edge seems to rise then lower a little. In the last week or so, I've been sliding the cover back, so that the front edge of the cover is slightly inside the outer edge of the spa, while the back edge of the cover extends about 3-4" beyond the outer edge of the spa at the back. By doing this, it seems like the cover has much less tendency to rock back & forth. When I try & pull the cover up in front by the cover strap, I get a definite suction feeling, like it's sealing better. I'd appreciate any comments anyone may have - Thanks for your help!
  2. I APOLOGIZE FOR NOT READING MORE FORUM COMMENTS BEFORE POSTING THE ABOVE.... I JUST READ "NITRO'S APPROACH TO WATER MANAGEMENT" DATED 11/10/08, AND IT ANSWERS MY QUESTIONS.....GREAT WRITE-UP!
  3. I've had my new hot tub for about 2 months, and I'm still feeling uncertain whether I'm adding the correct amount of chemicals or not.... Rather than using test strips, do you think it would be better, or more accurate, to use the test kits they typically use for pools? (i.e. dip plastic holder in water & add drops). Also, does anyone know of a good book designed for maintaining the water balance in hot tubs? I've looked on Amazon, and virtually all books are made primarily for pool owners. Thanks for your help....
  4. I received my Sundance Cameo just before Thanksgiving, & I couldn't be happier. BTW, the lounge has air jets for your calves, as well as wrist jets. The configuration is excellent for a couple - it's rated 5-6 people, but I think no more than 3 would be very comfortable, I rotate between the lounge & the 2 corner seats, & it's very much like circuit training as the variety of jets gives you a different experience in each location (60 total jets - 10 different kinds). I wet tested the Aria, but didn't feel it offered as many features as the Cameo for about the same cost. I also was not impressed with the MotoMassage, Good luck in your search.
  5. I'd like to 2nd what gman had to say.....I had it narrowed down to the HS Envoy & Sundance Cameo, which are very similar in seating configurations - the Cameo has the same outer dimensions as the Optima, but has a lounge like the Envoy - in my case, the only way I can enter the spa is from the side with the main controls - that meant I'd have to climb over the lounge in the Envoy, as opposed to a flat seat surface in the Cameo - that coupled with the fact that the Cameo had more jets, and is detailed better in my opinion, I chose the Sundance Cameo - I've only had it for less than 2 weeks, but my wife & I love it!! I can't imagine a better spa experience.....I was quoted $9,400 + tax for the Envoy including steps, cover, lifter, chemicals, - Sundance was originally about $600 more, but they matched the HS price to make the sale (Northern CA).....
  6. I was told by my Sundance dealer that an ozonator will accelerate deterioration to pillows & the cover, which is why I didn't pay extra for the ozonator....
  7. My Sundance Cameo was delivered yesterday, and we tried it out tonight.....very satisfied with the quality & performance.
  8. I bought a Sundance Cameo over the weekend because it met virtually all of my needs, and I have faith in the dealer. The HS Aria is an excellent product, but I felt the Cameo offers more and was a better value for less money.....I also read this forum daily for the last month, which was very helpful.
  9. Thanks Eric for the feedback - it's reassuring to know that Sundance takes care of you after the sale...I'd be curious to know how long it took you to feel comfortable learning how to adjust the jet pressure/air pressure for each seat, and whether it's easy once you get the hang of it...Thanks
  10. I forgot to mention that I've wet tested the Sundance Maxxus & the Hot Spring Sovereign, which probably isn't fair to Hot Spring because the Maxxus is larger & is more deluxe than the Cameo, while the Sovereign does not have the features the Aria has. Unfortunately, neither dealer has the Cameo or the Aria available for wet testing. I probably preferred the Maxxus, but that may be because the Sovereign is smaller than the Aria - I'm 6'2" so the Sovereign was a little cramped for me.
  11. I've done considerable research, and have narrowed my choice down to the Cameo and the Aria. Both brands are recognized as first rate, and the dealers are both reputable in my area. The price is about $500 more for the Cameo than the Aria, which is not significant based on the total cost. It appears however, that the Cameo offers more value in terms of number & variety of jets (i.e. 46/7 vs. 35/7). The Cameo also holds 459 gallons vs, 365 for the Aria, although that may be an advantage or disadvantage depending on how you look at it. The spa will be placed near our bedroom, & both companies have assured me that because their heater is integrated with their 24 hr. circulation pump, there will not be any loud pump noises occurring during the night. A lot of money is at stake, and I'd welcome any comments from members that have experience with either or both models. Thanks very much.
  12. I've about made up my mind on the 2009 Sundance Cameo, which is very similar to the Optima except the Cameo has the lounge. My dealer in Northern California quoted me $10,400 (+tax) which includes the cover, hydraulic lifter, steps, ozonator, & delivery....unfortunately, I'm unable to shop the price because the same person owns the 3 Sundance stores closest to me - all of which would provide local service....my second choice is the Hot Springs Envoy, which is about $500 less, but I don't like the seating configuration as well....hope this helps.
