  1. I want to add that we are also being compensated by the dealer for the inconvenience. Anne
  2. I don't want to start a fight here. What I want to point out though is that a person can't possibly think that Gulf Coast Spas are actually good quality after what you and many others have said of their experiences with their tubs. If everything's breaking within a short period of time, then it's not a quality tub. Most people are not intending to buy a tub thinking they will have to repair it themselves right off the bat. They're thinking they will have a good running tub for years and then maybe some things will need to be repaired or replaced. My own brand new tub has a minor issue as well that will have to be replaced, but a spa tech from the company is coming out immediately(we live about 150 miles from their service center mind you) and it is covered under warranty, no card to send it to validate it. I KNOW my tub will be a good quality tub because of the company's track record, I can get on the forums and see that people are happy with this company and their service. I have yet to find someone rave about a Gulf Coast tub. It goes to show that you get what you pay for. That said, I'm glad you are happy with your tub and feel you got a good deal. You're fortunate that you are able to repair things on your own. Others might find that rather frustrating. That's what I have to say. Many will find soon that I am long winded . It's my downfall. Anne
  3. Hehe, you don't give up do ya? I'll take some pics, there just won't be any lights so it won't look as cool. How do I post pics on here BTW? Anne
  4. I can agree on the cheaper price but I definitely would not call that a quality spa. I'm not saying you'll regret it because every spa maker has happy customers, some just have a much higher % of happy customers than others. AMEN!
  5. The repair man will be here on the 10th. Not as soon as I wanted, but they won't get the part until next Monday. I have high hopes in them being here, replacing the part and doing their best. I will keep you posted. Anne
  6. This is a great explanation not just for me, but others. I should explain that I have had enough medical expenses in past years to go the itemize route and take advantage of the tax write off. My prescriptions alone are about $150-$200 a month just for my copays. Add another 20% which is my cost for every doctor's appt, which there are very many. And I have a 500 deductible at the beginning of the year. Then my husband has his costs added onto that. Now, our income is in the $40,000 a year as my husband is the sole provider. It's possible it could work. We'll see. I know that I have two docs who will write letters on my behalf as they both have suggested hydrotherapy as my best bet for helping my pain. Anyway, we'll see. Ultimately, I'm just thankful to have this tub as I can go out there anytime I'm hurting and get some relief! . Anne
  7. Not a bad idea to wait and see what you've got and ease of use and what else is out there. Try Spa Depot, or did I already suggest that? They seem to have to really good deals on all pool and spa supplies. It is ok for me give them a spot here. Let me know if it's not. I wouldn't go without mine, but your idea is just fine and I can understand not wanting to fork out the dough for one or two lifters(as the case may be with a swim spa). You might find you can go without. Anne
  8. I am not bashing Hotspring or the limelight line because I feel we have a good well built hot tub. We were having to reset at the subpanel once or twice each time we used the tub. So, we called the service dept and they told me that unfortunately some tubs got passed the quality check with this faulty light component. It's for the awesome light feature. So, we have to wait for the service man to come out and replace the part. So, last night we didn't use the lights at all and we didn't have to reset, which was nice. The service dept was very apologetic and very good about it. And the dealer is giving us an adjustable shelf that goes on the tub to hold drinks or whatever. It is frustrating, but I know these things can happen sometimes and it hasn't dampened my happiness with our tub, the company, or the dealer. Anne
  9. You can typically get it a little cheaper if you negotiate it into the price of the spa (more like almost always cheaper to buy with spa) and when you buy it at that time you can often get them to install it for free upon spa delivery. They can install it in a snap since they do is so often. When you buy it later it often costs more and they give it to you to take home and install. Exactly! We essentially ended up with ours being free. I made a mistake, ours is the cover mate, not cover cradle. And it does sit up high, but I like how it gives us a wall on that side. And I watched the delivery guys who came and delivered and set up our tub and they were like a well oiled wheel(or whatever the term is), it took them no time at all and they attached the cover mate in about 2 minutes, where as I would have taken much longer. This is one of those added options that is essential really. It's better to have the cover stored in the cover mate, than on the ground or deck. Anne
  10. I'll only vote if there is an option saying "yes, you're CRAZY not to get one". When the dealer first gave me the quote and monthly payment, the cover cradle was part of that price and I told her, "oh we don't need that" as I balked at the $250, but then she explained how it actually lengthens the life of the cover and with my disabilities and physical limitations, it really made sense. Now that we have it, I can't imagine not having it. It makes it possible for me to remove the cover and it holds the cover folded up while you're using your tub. Why wouldn't you want it? Anne
  11. Our GFCI box came with our hot tub which was a happy surprise. I had looked at them online at SpaDepot for just over $100 but I don't believe it was as nice as the one we got from the dealer. If you carefully read the directions and pay attention to codes, you can figure it out. It made sense to me. Now, I've never wired anything like that, my husband knew how to do all the carpentry/construction stuff, like cut conduit to the right size, drill through the deck, etc. etc. But reading the schematics wasn't too bad. Having my dad the electrical engineer who used to correct, design schematics for Boeing certainly helped a lot. Yes, definitely better to have more than you need that not having everything you need, we went to the hardware store 4 times the day we wired up. Anne
  12. We did it ourselves so it only cost us the cost of the wire, conduit and whatever else needed and we did get a deal on that as well. But that said, it costs some money to have an electrician come up and I have no idea how much they charge per foot for their wire, but you can bet they get a deal on it when they buy it. Ultimately, it's going to cost some money and if you aren't confident doing it yourself, you want to get it done correctly. That's what an electrician will do for you. Shop around, get the best deal you can and know that it will be worth it to have it done rightly and get you into that tub! I wish you the best in your search, Anne
  13. First of all, I want to ask the gurus, or others who have done this. How do you take advantage of tax incentives for buying your hot tub for health reasons? And secondly, do you or did you buy/use your hot tub to help treat chronic pain or another health condition? I have fibromyalgia, and a spinal cord condition with nerve damage and pain. Oh and also arthritis. I'm a mess. We bought this tub to help us with our daily pain. It's helping. I've read about the tax benefits with buying a tub if you have a doc's prescription. So, has anyone here done this, and how did you do it? All replies appreciated! Anne
  14. Hmmmm, that will be a big NO! And no there won't be any pics either.
  15. I don't think I can quote the poems word for word actually. But I'll share that one of the quotes stated that since 1971 only one suit has ever been in their tub and it caused foam all over their backyard. Another was, whether lewd, rude, or crude, they've always gone nude, who knows you might get scr*wed! Hehe... Anne
  16. I'm sorry, pork sword? Are you saying suits always? Hehe. It sounds so far that people prefer nothing between them and the jets. It's a pain having wet suits to deal with and then having to replace them regularly also. If we had friends over, we'd be wearing our suits. We're close with our friends, but not that close! Thanks for the opinions, keep em' coming! I'll have to share some of the silly poems. Anne
  17. Good advice from BoDarc. However, the dealer really should do something about it. Our hot tub was driftwood with a grey cover and the cover is just a little darker. They look good together. If you're not happy, they need to do something. I know it's just the cover of the hot tub, but you'll be looking at it for quite some time. I hope all works out well. Anne(happy owner of a new hot tub)
  18. So, do you prefer to wear a suit or go in the buff? I've read a few funny quotes and poems about this topic and thought it would be fun to bring up here. Though we have not gotten our privacy fence up, we have been able, by the sheild of darkness, to enjoy our tub free as birds ! It will be better when the fence is up, it won't be so difficult to get in and out of the tub without showing the neighbors all we've got, so to speak . Let's see what you all have to say on this topic, Anne
  19. I like that spa stone finish, it looks really nice! I saw a grandee in the store with the spa stone. We decided not to go with a sound system, it was just too much more money and we didn't think we'd use it enough to be worth the cost. I'm glad you and when I say you, I mean, of course your wife likes the vista! I'm getting a whole lot out of ours already! I understand people now when they say it's a different lifestyle!
  20. I have to add one and a half teaspoons of chlorine per week. I like that there isn't a heavy chlorine smell like I've experienced elsewhere.
  21. Hey, I can't remember if I asked this last night or not. Do you need to shock a tub more than once in a day if you're using it more than once, or do you just shock it the last time, or at the end of the day? Oh! I have the Everfresh system for HS. This is an ozonator and silver ion cartridge. What do you think? Anne
  22. Yes, I believe that code is the same here, one that we'd read ourselves and followed, but I'm glad you brought it up as it's one we might have missed if we hadn't been doing our homework. How do you like your Vista?
  23. I wasn't real impressed with the Tiger River line either. We liked the Envoy, but it didn't half calf jets in the lounger and was a bit more than we wanted to pay. I think even if you put your deposit down, there could still be room to haggle a bit. I've read here of people asking the dealer to give a discount or throw in some extra chemicals, or cover lifter, or perhaps some store credit. It's always worth a try. The worst they can say is 'no'. You know, I couldn't stand the anticipation. I'm just too impatient. . Let us know if you get the dealer to budge a little. Anne
  24. I'll get some pics maybe tomorrow? I hope anyway. I kept forgetting to take my camera out there. I was in that tub 3 times today! Hey, if you use the tub multiple times in a day, is it necessary to shock everytime, or just maybe at the end of the day? It seems excessive to shock several times in one day, but I don't know. Anne
