  1. there was an article posted by user kengorman that explained how to install the panel insulation to your tub. i can't seem to find it but you can try to search it. basically all i did was pull off the silver thin insulation from the inside panels of the tub. i bought the insulation boards from home depot and cut them to size and placed them on the inside walls of the tub. i placed the silver lining over them, reattached the sides and that was it. i think it helped. some people worry about overheating in the summer months. you can always just pull it out in the summer and put it back in the winter.
  2. you could try calling their parts and supplies line 1-866-829-3660. i've had success with them since my tub is also out of warranty. they do still provide basic support. i also have the LX11000 model and have come across this error. they told me to add water to the tub. if the water is too low sometimes i get air in the lines. this has worked for me. good luck with the spa. i have had a ton of problems with mine. had to replace two pumps, the spa pack and the topside controls all within the first year. the tub is not very well insulated so i added some of the panels to the interior.
  3. that seems awfully quick of them to file bankruptcy and then to sell to another company in the matter of only a few months. the problem that i have it that this is not the first time they have done this. tatum owns multiple hot tub companies. if you ask me this appears to be some kind of scam. it may be legal but unethical. i'll chalk all of this up as a valuable lesson learned. too bad they don't have a lemon law on hot tubs as they do on vehicles. this hot tub actually cost more than a few of the vehicles i have owned.
  4. Has anyone seen this? Gulf Coast Spas is now Pinnacle Spas... I just don't understand how they can close shop and then re-open under a new name. There seems to be a pattern here. Is this legal? I am not an attorney but I plan to contact my states Attorney General Office to get to the bottom of this. I called Pinnalce today and asked them if they are honoring the Gulf Coast warranty. Of course the answer was no. But the guy said they are selling them brand new. I just don't get this whole cycle of manufacturing the spa under one name and selling it under another and then closing the doors only to sell it under another new name. I don't even know what good will come of this??? I am sure there are a lot of people that are in the same situation as myself and don't know where to turn.
  5. I have a 450 gal gulf coast spa. Gulf Coast is out of biz so i have to purchase one on my own. The manufacturer of the motor is Marathon. What concerns me about ordering another Marathon motor is that this one is only 9 mos old. This will be the second motor i had to replace. The first one went bad within 6 mos. I took a picture of it but don't know how to post it here.
  6. Can someone recommend where I can purchase a new motor for my spa pump? It's a two speed, 5HP motor. I would like for it to be from a reliable online source and not some fly by night operation.
  7. For your information, Gulf Coast Spas went out of business as of Mar 20. I guess they have some kind of support/sales line that answers and they said the company is no longer in business and your warranty is void. They can however give you your parts for a fee now. My electric was also pretty high during the winter months here in PA. I added some insulation but I don't know if it really helped. I hear what you are saying about the filter cartridges. I would also like to find them cheaper somewhere else.
  8. You won't hear me complaining any longer about Gulf Coast Spas... They are no longer in business as of Mar 20. Just talked to the guy in service and he told me they closed the doors. I guess service is still open for business but now for a fee. My warranty is no longer valid. Of course I still need my motor but now I have to pay.
  9. I wish it were that easy... The guy that sold me the spa only sells one brand - Gulf Coast. Technically, he's just a distributor and does not even sell other spas. He actually sells furniture. The red flag should have gone off at that point but the price was irresistable. Anyhow, I have to deal directly with the manufacturer for warranty work. Next time, I will spend the extra money and buy a spa from a local dealer that only sells spas. Lesson learned!!! When the spa works, it's very nice!
  10. All I can say is buyer BEWARE before you buy one of these hot tubs. I know, no need to say I told you so. I am already aware of that now. Yes, it's very tempting to buy one because of the price but the company and quality are awful. I live in PA and they are located in FL or else I would drive there and complain in person. I have posted a few times before (with complaints) but I have had enough of them. I have had nothing but problems with the tub. Keep in mind the tub is only 8 months old!!! Yes, they have shipped the last three replacement parts (Pump, Topside Control, and Computer Module) but now I am waiting for another pump. It just so happens that this pump is tied to the heat. It has been a rather cold month and being without a pump that heats the tub for 4 weeks is unacceptable. You don't get anywhere with them when you call. The new excuse is that they moved their service/support location away from the manufacturing facility. The service rep accused the mfg area of taking their inventory and using it for the new construction of tubs. Whatever the reason is, they should not be telling their customers about interoffice politics. Anyhow, I hope this helps someone that is considering purchasing a tub from Gulf Coast. For those of you that are happy with their GC Tub, well good for you. Just be glad not to have any issues.
  11. The tub looks great at night. Love the lighting!!! I guess you do get what you pay for. I hope you are enjoying the tub.
  12. Ken, I saw your link before and I actually just followed your advice. I see that you did that last year. Did you notice a difference in your electric consumption? Do you think that the insulation help to keep the water temp up and the heater from running? Just curious to know the benefits of adding additional insulation??? Thanks, Jason
  13. glad you are having a better experience than we are. i am not at all opposed to getting my hands dirty but when you ecnounter problem after problem it gets old real quick. the spa is only 3 months old and we are a first time spa owner. i would expect problems to occur but not after 3 months and not all at once. i am not sure what state you reside but in PA the winters are cold. i don't think the tub has sufficient insulation. also, our electric bills have been rather high ever since we plugged in the tub. it's too hard to determine actual true consumption since the novelty has yet to wear off. we do use it often so i would assume the electric to increase. it didn't help that my local electric supplier just raised their rates the month the tub went into service. one question i do have is how long have you owned your tub? also, i do agree that their 24/7 service is good. some of the techs are much better to deal with but all in all they are good. they send the parts out right away - no complaints there.
  14. I certainly wish I would have found this forum prior to purchasing my Gulf Coast Spa. Had I read the reviews on this site I doubt I would have purchased one from this company. Oh well - it's too late now. Anyhow, I purchased the LX 11000 spa at the end of June. I have since had quite a few problems with the tub. The first problem I encountered was with the light. It did not work. After removing the panel and further looking into the problem I realized that the connection was bad. Easy fix but you would have thought that this would have been tested prior to shipping. Second problem was with the topside control panel. It evenutally stopped working. They had to ship me out a new one. Third problem, the spa pack stopped working. The spa pack runs the entire tub. Once again they had to ship me out a new one. And lastly, one of the pumps is leaking. It's not a simple just tighten the connection fix. It was determined that it was faulty and they will be sending me a new one. After 3 months the novelty of my first hot tub has worn off. I do have to say that Gulf Coast does have excellent customer service and if you are a do-it-yourselfer then by all means go ahead and purchase one of their tubs. But for most people the value of their time is far more valuable than having to deal with problem after problem with their newly purchased spa. Anyhow, just wanted to post a message to inform you of the issues I have encountered in the first three months of spa ownership. I hope this will help at least one person in their decision making process. To any other Gulf Coast Spa owners - feel free to post your stories either good or bad.
  15. So i did some more research and found out that there was a rate increase from the prior month. So my bill really only increased by $120 and not $150 like I originally stated. I spoke to the electric company and they said i could obtain daily meter reading online which will help in evaluating my overall usage. I still would like to know what type of insualtion to use??? I figure you probably can't have too much.
