  1. sorry guys i cant get to load my pictures. I have just taken some of the garden covered in snow, gutted i cant post them.
  2. I used to sell D1 tubs and my favourite was the Amore bay, have you seen one of these? Similiar sort of money and a great spa.
  3. Hi LeafFan, Is the heating icon on in the topside control or are you getting any error messages? Also check that you are not in economy mode. If the problem persists contact your local dealer because your tub will be under warranty. If I have missed anything any other suggestions from Arctic dealers would be welcome. Regards Andy
  4. Thanks for the information. I think this is one of units that I'm considering. In the USA, I think it is marketed under the name of Nexa Spa. Here is the link to the Nexa Spa unit. It seems to look the same as the Aquablue unit in your store. The unit has an optional timer (US$10). I assume this avoids having to "remember to press the button each day". I posted my question about after market units in this forum and also the "water chemistry" section. You are the only one to respond as someone with direct experience with these types of devices. This begs the question ... "Why don't more people have them?" The cost seems reasonable ... about US$300. This seems like a relatively small expense given the cost of a hot tub, electrician for setup, and possible decking/landscaping that many people do, and monthly utility costs of heating the water. Granted, it's probably cheaper to buy diclor or bleach, but these do not have the convenience of having a generator. Since you sell these things, do you have a feeling for why their acceptance appears to be slow? - Simon Hi Simon, we only got introduced to this about 5/6 months ago and i think up until this product most salt water generators where aimed at the pool market. Just taken a look at the Nexa unit and it looks the same as the one we have but just re-badged. Because i am an Arctic Dealer we offer a saltwater system at point of sale built into the tub (onzen) and my customers who have ordered it love although if you search on the message boards other customers have had difficulties. I think the main reason why more people dont try these aftermarket units is because it can be seen as a high price to pay to just try something new whereas if customers want to switch from Chlorine to Bromine or Aquafinesse etc it costs very little in comparison. If you buy one please keep the message boards updated with what you think of it, i think you will love it because it does exactly what it says on the box!
  5. We have used an Aquablue Spa Chlorinator for a couple of months on a showroom tub and it worked great. The model we tested has a button that when pressed will work and turn the saltwater into chlorine for 1 hour. The rep told us that 1 hour a day was enough to maintain sufficient levels. We did this and chlorine levels where fine anytime levels dropped slightly we would just press the button again and then more chlorine would be produced. The only other product we used was ph- to bring the ph levels down. Apparently when using any swcg the ph+ levels rise so you just need to be aware of this and keep on top of it. Overall i thought it was a good product but you just got to remember to press that button each day. Hope this is helpful.
  6. We have used non slip tape on our steps at home and it does the trick fine. See an example below on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3M-Safety-Walk-Non-S...=item3a55021ef6
  7. Sorry everyone for the wrong information. Onzen carries a 2 year warranty here in the UK also. The 5 year parts and labour warranty excludes the following: Onzen- 2 years Cover - 3 years Aquatremor- 3 years Wetunes - 1 year Sorry again.
  8. I dont want to appear like i am selling anything i just want to give my opinion. I have sold tubs with Onzen since early 2008 and i have seen no breakdowns or faults on the systems i have sold. The only minor problems i have seen are on initial start up getting the dosage right and once this has been solved everything has been great. Dont forget if there is a problem you will be covered by a 5 years parts and labour warranty. To answer your questions if the system failed yes you could still use the tub using a different sanitizer and yes you can unplug the system completely if you want to not use it. Hope this helps.
  9. I was gonna post some install pictures but i cant add pictures in this thread.Sorry. Take a look at http://arcticspas.co.uk/index.php/Main/gazebos.html for a few ideas.
  10. I live in the uk and when my tub drops 0.5 degree the heater kicks in and brings it back to 38.5 which is the temp we soak at even in the Winter. Our winters get to about -7 at most so i cant comment on anything more extreme. It is worth noting that I used to own a Chinese tub before i started in the hot tub business and when it was cold it would lose about 10 degrees after an hour in the cold !!
  11. Hi Ryan, What make is your spa? how old is your spa? Is it under warranty? If its in warranty call the manufacturer/dealer straight away for advice and do not use until fixed. If its out of warranty call someone who knows what they are doing to come and fix this problem. Water & electricity dont mix and in my opinion a professional should carry out repairs involving the two.
  12. Tom, I am gutted to hear that you have been laid off. I would like to thank you for all the work you have put in here helping people with any problems/concerns they have had. You have also been a fantastic ambassador for Arctic Spas here and i just wish you all the very best for the future. Regards and all the best. Andy Northwest Spas
  13. Stuart A thanks for your comments, i just try and answer any questions i know the answers to. I give you the hard sell when you come into my showrooom.
  14. Hi Jen, all jets on Arctic Spas and Coyote Spas can be turned off or adjusted individually. Regards
  15. Hi Dennis, the tub looks nice for what it is. I guess it all depends on what price it will sell for. Would i be right in saying this will be the new entry level tub just below the cove? Also does it not have a circulation pump and what are your thoughts on this because D1 have always been very "pro circ pump".
  16. I have been telling customers about this all week so i thought i should share it on here. I will just have to limit my red wine consumption or i wont be able to focus on the meteors!
  17. No matter what tub you own you should change the water after 3 months so 4 times a year. When changing chemicals you should change the water never mix them. In your case after leaving the tub for 6 months, you should chlorine shock your tub as you have done but it must now be emptied and then refilled. Maintain a correct level of sanitizer and then you can use the tub safely again. Hope this helps.
  18. Tonight and tomorrow night should be a great time to jump in the tub and look up for meteor showers according to "those that know about these things". Who needs lights in the tub ! I took the following from another website who say we could spot upto 100 meteors an hour: Every year in early August, we can observe the Perseid meteor shower ("the Perseids"). And it's a fascinating sky event. Here's a beginners' guide to what it is and how best to enjoy it. (Perhaps, impress your friends with these astronomy questions and answers!) What are the Perseids and what is a meteor? Every year in August, the Earth passes through rock and dust fragments left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle, last time it came near the Sun. As these small particles collide with the Earth's atmosphere, they burn-up, often creating a startling streak of light across the sky. You can easily observe this and it can be a wonderous spectacle. Why is it called the Perseid meteor shower? The term "Perseid", refers to the star constellation of Perseus. The meteors actually have nothing to do with the stars we see from Earth, as being part of Perseus. It just appears as though the meteors originate from Perseus. In fact, the rock fragments are close to the Earth – that's why they burn in our atmosphere. They are very close, just a few hundred miles – not many, many light years distant like the stars. But, if you trace-back the bright trails of meteors we see, they appear to originate from the stars of Perseus. When can you see them? The Perseid meteor shower actually starts in late July and runs to late August. However, the best time to view is around the peak. It's not precise, but the 2009 peak is expected on August 12th at around 15.00 hours UT. There is some uncertainty, so it's very worthwhile to observe either side of this. In particular for European observers, the hours of darkness either side the peak hours, may well prove more fruitful! So try the previous Tuesday night, as well as the night of Wednesday 12th. And there is also a potentially prominent Moon to contend with. It will not set below the horizon until the early hours of the morning. What equipment do you need to observe the meteor shower? The good news is none! Just use your eyes. It will help your observation if you give your eyes some time (say 15 minutes), to become adapted to the darkness. Binoculars my also help, but on the other hand, they may restrict your view to a small part of the sky. The meteors originate in the region of Perseus, but they may appear in view just about anywhere in the sky. Although, if you were to track-back their trails, you would get to Perseus. Can they be measured, at all? Yes. Keen astronomers count how many appear in a fixed period of time, in a certain area of the sky. This is expressed as a Zenithal Hourly Rate (ZHR). We may expect around 100 streaks of meteor light across the sky per hour, at or near the shower peak. Do watch out for them on Wednesday 12th August and during hours of darkness, before and after.
  19. Which Tub Brand Has Best Warranty? Hi Mich, I cant speak for other companies but our warranty must be up there with the best of them. Arctic SE models: Shell - Lifetime. Equipment - 10 years Parts and Labour Arctic Non SE models : Shell - Lifetime. Equipment - 5 years Parts and Labour
  20. Here is a short videon from youtube: Arctic Ocean Video
  21. Take a look at the Coyote Spas Chieftain. It is manufactured by Blue Falls (They make Arctic Spas) and is huge. It measures 290cm x 229cm and will seat up to 10 people. Its a similar shape to D1's Amore Bay but for half the money.
  22. Send it back to Costco for a full refund. Don't bother trying to fix it. There are plenty more problems coming. Start with a new one if it's more than a few years old. I am with Roger on this one. The best thing about Costco tubs is the return policy. Give them it back and let them worry about it.
  23. Hi Mich, if you want that particular tub the best way in negotiating a price is to actually sit down with the dealer and talk money. Tell him what you are willing to pay and take it from there. Whats the worst that can happen? Does the price the dealer quoted include extras like steps, coverlifter, chemical packs, delivery etc. These are all extras that cost the dealer money so its important to look at the whole picture. I would also look at other similar tubs and see how much they cost. For instance Arctic Spas make the Tundra which is of a similar size and layout with an rrp of £12,665 for the legend extreme model with 3 pumps, 61 water jets and 14 air jets. Anyway good luck with your search and make sure you wet test any tub before making a purchase. Regards
  24. We have been testing an aftermarket salt water chlorine generator in our store for the last couple of months and it has worked great. The water has remained crystal clear throughout and chlorine levels have been maintained no problem. The only other product we have needed to add is ph down. I cannot comment on what its like under bather load because we are only using it on one tub which hasnt had many wet tests recently. Its called Aqua Blue Spa and can be viewed here on the manufacturers website: www.pmp-tec.com This costs around £350 over here in the UK and the salt packs cost about £20 which last 3 months until you change the water. Hope this helps.
