  1. At least if your PH is properly balanced, they won't turn into prunes! High 90's in the summer. 103-104 in the winter. Like he said, It cools down fast with the cover open. I would rather sit in the quiet water than have the heater circulating. Sometimes I turn the temp down as the tub cools, just to stay ahead of the heat cycle.
  2. The tub could have caused a disruption in the drainage. Water that was perculating through before, now has 64sq ft less area. A drain pipe in gravel might be all you need to eliminate this risk. Ask a home inspector, too!
  3. Tell the salesman to stick his head under the tub and take a bite of bad info while he's there. They haven't had 300W for a while. You wouldn't want 300W driving a transducer. It would tear out your innards! PS. Mine didn't work at first and I had to tell the installer/drop off guy what to do to fix it. There is a 110/220v switch that was going the wrong way. It comes with an owners manual for the amp....65W amp.
  4. I did a fill yesterday on my Tundra. 7hrs to go from 51 to 100.
  5. I just put my MP3 player in a ziplock and set it on the deck right next to the tub.
  6. http://www.clarksynthesis.com/pool_and_spa_products.html One thing that you find out when you use these tactile speakers, any loose things will vibrate! I'm still 100% satisfied with having these. The Sonic Massage CD is like swiming with whales. No music, just vibration and sounds. Speakers on an outdoors thing worry me. Especially pop ups. I use the area they cut out for a drink holder. I'd rather have the drink holder than a speaker in that spot. Dirty, Arctic supplies a 6ft cable. You can get longer ones from radioshack. I have a portable radio with a headphone jack and that works fine.
  7. I'm not sure, but I think the deluxe includes the MP3 player in a waterproof case.
  8. The location of the jack is not in a great place. It is a 3.5mm just like the headphone jack in you player. They supply a male/male cable. My jack has corroded and needs to be replaced after 1 year. With the cover closed, it is not in the best environment for metal. Even though it has a spring loaded cap, the contacts have corroded. Arctic flyer listed 300W amplifier. Delivery was only 65W. Tom, from the forum, forwarded this to the publishing department, or at least meant to. But they haven't updated their website or flyer in a the last couple years, so no matter. Okay, that was the down side. The two transducer speakers are mounted to the shell and transforms the whole shell into a speaker. As much as a subwoofer sound makes you feel just the bass notes, transducer speakers makes you feel the whole range of frequency. Very clear! If I were to be in the marked to buy another tub with this system and know what I now know about it, would I buy the same thing? Absolutely! Google Clark Synthetic Transducer
  9. I wish I knew this when I had my Tundra delivered! The hole was added after the tub was in place. It is drilled through the forever floor. mine is located in the middle, under the side where the contol panel sits. But the terminal is on the adjacent, right wall. Leave enough wire to reach the far corner and this will do the trick. I used conduit and a pass-thru with a gasket on it.
  10. I even sit on the floor sometimes, in mine! It's like having a lounger without having a lounger. I'm 6ft and my wife is 5-2. She can still sit in the deep corner without a snorkel.
  11. De contaminate using the Nitro method posted in the Chemical threads. He has a link to it in his signature.
  12. You should have had them throw in the Aquatremor. These are transducer type speakers and turn your whole tub into a speaker. Even though the forever floor can sit on anything, anything can shift and heave. Mine is on 18" of packed crushed stone. We lost power on Tuesday and popped a breaker when it came back on. We showed up on Friday and the tub went down 5 degrees on the week that we had our first frost. That is why I chose Arctic.
  13. I had to bail mine out once! I used big clam pots and the three of us had 600 gallons out in no time!
  14. You could try this one: http://www.spadepot.com/shop/Pre-Fresh-Spa...r-P784C635.aspx I picked up one of these from Amazon for the same price. It is a Watts, but the same thing. I haven't tried it yet and won't be changing my water for another couple weeks. Mine is sold as an RV filter. Activated charcoal should do the trick. What a pain iron can be. Hey, everything is balanced and my water is yellow! Then you use stuff like Iron Out and it clears up until you put your diclor treatment. My one micron filter caked up with iron and needed to be cleaned. Like you, my place is only used on the weekend and I don't have the ablility to constanly monitor my spa. Good luck, anyway.
  15. I'm about 3-4 hours south of you in New Hampshire. I have to say that hot tubs are made for the winter as far as enjoyment. It is so neat to get out to walk into the house and you get ice crystals on your back and you don't even notice. My record for in the tub is -15F (-27C). The coldest it got was -34F (-36C). I have an Arctic Tundra. There is a bunch of comparable brands and it's a matter of what is right for you. I do appreciate the thick Castcore cover to insulate the topside. I hope to get up to Trois-Rivieres one day and see what the dealer has. And...Go Bruins!!!
  16. I've had the Micropure bust open, too! I use a pool screen to remove any debris and bugs from the tub. When I skimmed the filter debris and removed it from my screen by banging the screen on my deck, I noticed it was fiberous, not powdery. I took a look at my filter and the top corner was peeling back. I deduced this was the culprit. Recently the dealer I go to stopped using micropure and has the Silver Sentinel. They cost a little more, but I bought four and got one free. This made it the same price as the former. It does rattle your nerves to see the white crap floating around your spa, that's for sure!
  17. http://www.spadepot.com/spacyclopedia/wiri...CFQOIFQodwHahWw This site looks dumb down, but it is spot on for the do it yourself folks. But it says they used a 1.00" conduit for a 4-wire. Oversized for easy pull. What you are looking for is derating. If you google it, you will find it. It will tell you how many wires you can bunch together before you have to go to bigger wires. Thus, the hole size.
  18. I made removable 2 foot panels, one 4 feet and one 8 feet to go along the notched corner of my deck against the hot tub. The deck is two tone, pictureframed and the panels match. I chamfered the inside of the notch to come to the tangent of the corner of my tub and have long bevelled edges in my 2 foot panels. Details! Since they were on the outside edge, I bolted them to the rim joist with half inch diameter bolts and use a couple post blocks with 4 x 4 to hold up the canterliever. It came out sturdy with plenty of room to get to the access panels in the tub.
  19. Has anybody seen the new swim spa by Arctic? The thing's 14 feet long and looks to sit 6.
  20. What is this Swim Suit device you speek of?
  21. Sorry Kids! This is from the daily average of July, not monthly! My bill was 625kWh this July. I don't have the monthly from last year. But they do have a graph chart for daily average.
  22. 12kWh last July, 18kWh this July. Only difference, no hot tub last year. Stay tuned for next month and I'll post again. I bet is will read identical to Aug 2008.
  23. Nice sales pitch! My Arctic Tundra uses about 6kWh. This is from my current electric bill, which tells how much last years average vs this years average for July. I got the tub in August.
  24. I had questions about the additional bond wire, as well. If you have metal conduit, you would have to bond the ground path for that. Everything metal should be bonded together. That way if there is any "free" current and you touch two unbonded or separate ground path metal pieces, you don't get a shock by becoming the bond.
  25. One black(L1), one red(L2), one white(Neutral), one green(Ground). Page 9 from the .pdf below. It's really a three wire with ground. http://www.arcticspas.com/index.php/en/custom_content/15/15/
