  1. Sorry to hear about the crappy service. I got an Aquabot Turbo 5 years ago. Runs every other day. Stays in pool. Does climb the stairs, but only to the surface. Then reverses back to deeper ground. Only had to change the filter bag at the beginning of this season, due to some slight tearing. We even have a family name for it, Josepi. Would recommend.
  2. Hey Southport, Have an inground with a Loop Loc mesh cover. Love it. Came with the house, which I've been in for 6 years. Just starting to show it's age ( little rips and tears from drying out). Will def. buy another when the time comes. Southport, Do you live in Mass. by any chance?
  3. Yes, suction side leaks before the pump at the connectors. The line in is about 1/2 - 3/4 inch lower than the in for the pump. I dug down around the pvc going down into the ground so I could kinda push the pump up snugger with the connection. Then thread taped the heck out of it. Stopped the leak.
  4. Thanks for all the great input. I went out last night and made sure all of the connections were tight. Did find a couple of leaks I stopped with a little thread tape. Didn't check the ring on the lid. Left pump on for 10 minutes while I tried to force water into input hole in skimmer. Tried the filling the basket with valve shut and open quick ( which I did a couple times last year) NO Go. Next plan of action, check the ring on the basket cover. I know the line is not blocked, due to when I put the hose in to the valve to make sure there was water in the line, it was coming out the skimmer. So I have flow. I've been looking at upgrading the filter, just need more funds. Thanks again for the info and help. J
  5. Good Morning All, Just hooked up my equipment. Got a Hayward Northstar pump, 1 hp , hooked up to my Hayward EC 65 filter. The pump is supposed to be self priming. Can't get it to draw water from the skimmer line. Just to see how strong it was sucking, I undid the fitting, turned on the pump. There really isn't that much suction from the pump, very minimal. I cupped my hand on the front and this is how I tested it. I tried to fill the line with water after reattaching everything, then turned it on again. NOTHING!!! Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance, J
  6. Hi to all, Does anyone recommend installing an inline chlorine feeder? I've been manually adding the pucks to my skimmer basket for 5 years now. Doesn't take much effort. I would guess that for someone who travels alot, this may be a viable need. My pool guy is trying to talk me into it, but as I said I'm pretty good at keeping up with the addition of a puck when needed. Thanks p.s. - 38 degrees here in Mass. and still can't see the pool cover with all the snow.
  7. Polling the pro's to see what are the pros and cons of de filters vs cartridge. Pool guy trying to sell me on cartridge. More money but less work. What are your recommendations? Thanks
  8. I have a couple wrinkles(2) on the bottom of the pool. One about 2 foot across, then the other is about 3 feet across two feet apart from eachother. The smaller one we noticed last season. Opening last year our liner floated and we had a company come in and re-install. They did a half a_ _ job. The liner wasn't snug around the top and I had to break out the hair dryer and loosen up the liner to stretch it back. But anyway, What are the cons of leaving the wrinkles for this season. The liner is about 7 years old. Thanks
  9. What exactly does the salt do? Thanks
  10. So the purpose of the wet/dry vac is to get the air out from behind the liner, is this correct?

  12. Whoa, Hey Mike, Sorry to reply with a question, but Where are the e clips and what do they do? Thanks
  13. Sounds like a clip or pin broke. take the top off the filter and see if the handle is ok. If it is you need a bump shaft kit to replace to broken parts. Thanks PS, I took the top off. The pin and handle are o.k. I then took the whole top off and checked inside to see what's going on. Seemed ok when I pumped the handle. Had to run out top son's baseball game. Will hook back up tomorrow night and keep you tuned. Thanks Again.
  14. Hi All!! Just opened my pool. 16x32, vinyl, 1 hp hayward pump. As the pressure was building up I figured I'd backwash and relieve the pressure. As I was bumping the handle I felt it kind of give way and now it won't bump and I don't believe it's cleaning the elements because it's not moving. Has anyone else had this problem and what was the solution? Thanks in advance,.
