  1. Thank you one and all. We did not have the permits for the tub which require electrical certification in addition to the fees for the permit and the certification. So this is how it set up. We were undecided if we should move or sell or store the tub. Moving runs about $500 and storage about $50 a month and then we would have to pay to have it moved back here from storage. Again, finding a buyer maybe $3500 or so or move with us. Once we put the House on the market we don't know how long it will take to sell, so that means depriving us of the use of the tub and paying moving and storage. So we decided to bite the bullet and have it legalized by permits/certification. Still less than the cost to move it and we can enjoy it until we leave. Once the house is on the market, it will be sold with the hot tub excluded unless they insist and make us a great offer. Pools and hot tubs are the wrong things to hang your hat on when you want to sell a house - you are so right. I feel much better knowing that it will move well.
  2. We have a July 2008 purchased Hot Springs Envoy. Love it- no problems at all. Here are the questions. We are relocating from Long Island, NY to Delaware in the fall of this year. We are very happy with it and would buy another if we don't take it. We have been told we "might" get $3500 for it if we sell it. Considering it was just shy of 10k when purchased that makes us cry thinking about a new one. How well do they survive moving? How costly is it to move? Are we better off to just bite the bullet, since it will be out of warranty in July of 2013? Who would we contact to move it? It weighs 750 dry and the regular movers said it could go on their truck, but I don't know about that idea. Thanks for the answers in advance.
  3. Don't do it. Our little guy cries too but the vet almost called the "dog abuse hotline" when I asked him. (not really but he was aghast that we would even consider it). He said no for a number of reasons all dog related as opposed to clogged filters etc. The temperature is too hot for them to handle, the skin gets dried out, the chemicals are too harsh, and the jets can push a little one off balance. In extreme cases shock can occur.
  4. Just a thought, but are you on any medication? Sometimes they react to the heat and cause severe alergic reactions. We have two friends each on the same med - one has no problem in our tub and the other can't get in without a breakout of severe hives that last for days.
  5. I have an Envoy (450 gallons) and until now have drained the hard way, garden hoses and clock watching. I am looking for advice regarding a submersible pump to speed the process along. I would appreciate some suggestions on a pump including size and if there is anything I need to know about using one. I normally run the hoses to the street about 50 feet so I don't kill the grass and plants when draining the hot tub. There are two drains on the envoy so I am assuming that I leave them closed and just use the pump. I have never bought one and researched a few and the prices and sizes are quite varied. I don't want to under buy and also don't want to buy something larger than I need. I appreciate the opportunity to tap into the knowledge of so many people, this forum is wonderful.
  6. Actualy rubber duckies breed bacteria. And the novelty wears off. Now a floating drink holder will always be usefull!! I love my rubber duckie. Unfortunately, he seems to have been hatched with a tiny pin hole in his chest. So he almost immediately beak dives as soon as he is released into the water but we still love "bob".
