  1. Is my pool too narrow? I followed the instructions. I am may wrong here but I think the intex systems are strong enough the run a Polaris pool cleaner. The pump are not strong enough. Take the hose and lay it out in a straight line in the sun for a few hours. You could be right. I added a 1hp hayward to my pool and the polaris works like a banshee. Thanks for the advice.

  3. I just got the polaris 65 for my 18'x9x52 intex pool. I followed the instructions and the system works pretty well. However the hose that attached from the pool putlet to the polaris unit keeps coiling back up into a circle after about 10 minutes of run time. It just stays there and does not untangle itself. I'm using the stock pump going through the intex saltwater system. Has anyone ever had this problem? I know the polaris is supposed to be a good cleaner. Please help. Thanks Kevin
  4. I've just got my polaris 65 today and I was very disappointed to discover that I could not use it. I've got an intex 18'x9'x52" ultra frame pool. The universal adapter that came with the polaris 65 is 1.5" and my pool carries a 2". Polaris is saying that I need to order a kit to get it to work. My question is do I need to order the kit which is basically an adapter from 1.5" to 2", or can I just visit the hardware and fix get a PVC fitting there for it? Has anyone had this experience? I would appreciate any help. Thank you. Kevin

  6. Hi... Firstly I cannot answer your question and I think anyone that attempts to answer will need to ask you a couple questions first. Personally I have both a inground pool and above the ground pool (AGP). I've got the inground pool (IGP) at my beach house and it's great. I love it. I've got my AGP at my home where I live most of the time and I absolutely love it as well. I choose the Intex brand but the Ultra Frame model because of the size option, parts and accessories and price. I am absolutely happy with my AGP and I will recommend one to anyone. I don't want to seem as if I'm marketing for Intex but I am sure there are a host of other great AGP manufacturers. Hope this helps and feel free to ask questions.
  7. When I add salt I use the leaf net without the pole. I just stand on the end of the leaf net, fill with salt and hold in front of water return for a few minutes to dissolve the salt. As it was mentioned above, the proper technique is to add the salt around the perimeter of the pool. The next step would be to distribute the salt on the bottom of the pool floor. The idea is to move the salt around so as to dilute it. I use the scubber which is the brush and I just move the salt back and forth. Again, try to dilute the salt as much as possible. Hope this helps.
  8. Hi all I'm still a bit confused here and I need some help. I 've recently purchased and set up an Intex ultra fram 18'x9'x52" AGP. Now I'm currently running the stock pump and I purchased the Intex salt water system. Everything is fine and working properly. My wife and I have been weighing the pros and cons between an AGP vs an IGP. I've got an inground pool in my beach house for years now so I've got some experience with this stuff. At the same time I am beginning to see a lot of value with the AGP systems. Before I go further, I intend to purchase the 24'x12'x52" as soon as it becomes available in my area. I've been surfing a few of the pool websites and are finding a host of specific AGP filtration setups which include sand filters and DE systems. I intend to keep my AGP going for as long as it will and I want to use the most effective equipment possible in terms of filtration, salinity sanitation and heating. I've got a couple questions here and I would really appreciate any help at all. Here goes: 1. Is my stock Intex pump sufficient enough to filter my pool for life? I live in the tropics. It is warm here all year. I am concerned with my water quality and clarity. I test my water often and try to manage it so that is is always at its optimum. I have no problem replacing my stock filtration system with a sand filter or DE system. I would appreciate any recommendations. 2. I am currently using a salt water system to produce hypochlorite. I do not like using chlorine for obvious reasons and I find major incredible benefits with the saltwater system and I intend to keep it integrated into my system. My quedstion is that if I upgrade my filtration system to a DE for instance, will I still be able to use my saltwater system with the new system? This is a very important factor to me. 3. Which is better, a sand filtration system or a DE system? I know the purpose of the DE system is to filter out finer particles. Would I be able to still use my Intex saltwater system with the new setup? 4. What is the best automatic cleaner for my pool? I beginning to think that maybe the polaris may be the best choice. Are automatic cleaners expected to clean the walls as well? 5. I am looking at adding a heater to my pool. I'm looking at a Hayward propane heater. Would this heater be able to work with a new DE filtration system as well as my Intex saltwater system? I really appreciate any help here guys. I have no problem purchasing the necessary equipment to enhance my family's enjoyment of our pool. Thanks everyone for taking the time to read and respond. Kevin.
  9. Easy for an experienced pool installer; not for you. If it is an expandable liner, then Sharkline is one of the most difficult pools to do this with. Are you doing the job yourself? Oval pools are difficult for the first time above-ground pool builder, without the deep end. Add a deep-end and it is more so. I built many of these pools in the 1990's and the manufacturer could not give me the specs for the excavation for their own liner. For the first timer; think wrinkles. E-mail me for advice. interested in this as well. can you guys email me the info please to kevin@mail.tt thanks guys

  12. Hi all I just installed the Intex salt water system onto my Intex ultra frame 18x9x52 pool. I believe that my pool is vinly and the manufacturer of the pool, Intex, also manufacturers a salt water system for these vinyl pools.
