I've been thinking about this because we have two small children, and although I try to teach them a lot of good things they should and shouldn't do, I realize they may occasionally do something different. Anyway, the thought I had was to attach metal rings (not sure the name for this piece of harware, but basically a rectangular piece of metal with four screw holes and a half ring coming off the top) where each of the straps hangs down. Then rip off the stupid plastic latches, and instead run a padlock through the strap and the metal ring. The big disadvantage would be the inconvenience of taking off four locks each time you used it, but it seems to me if you had a cover lifter, there might be enough play in the straps on that side that you wouldn't have to undo those.

I keep it at 100 and feel like I can stay in for a pretty much unlimited period. Lately if I go to a public hot tub, say in a hotel, I find the water way too hot. Anywhere above around 102, I find I get tired and uncomfortable within about 10-15 minutes. I think it's remarkable what a big difference one or two degrees can make.

So instead of add something to your current spa that will void the warranty, you're going to buy an entire new spa? No offense, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

So I was thinking about the spa frog floating system and I just went to a dealer who sells it, and he talked me out of it. His thoughts were (1) its a very expensive way to add bromine, and (2) the ozonator ought to enable you to get by with a low bromine level anyway, so the mineral cartridge is superfluous. He also sells a couple of other mineral systems made to fit in particular systems, said they could be used in just about any tub, and told me he thought they probably weren't worth the money either. Given that he was encouraging me to spend less money (I went in there specifically asking for the frog) I tended to trust his opinion. Anyone think he's off base?
